Work for the IMF. Work for the World.
The Communications Department (COM) is the Fundโs strategic center for communication. It develops and coordinates the IMFโs external and internal communications strategy, shapes the IMFโs key messages, advises IMF Management and staff on how best to convey key messages, and monitors and responds to what people outside the IMF say about the institution and its activity.
The Policy Communications Division (COMPC) develops and disseminates IMF messages aimed at a variety of audiences, including policymakers, academics, media, civil society, students, and individuals with a keen interest in international economics and finance. The division creates and publishes content on several platforms: the IMF Blog, Finance & Development magazine (a quarterly flagship print and digital publication), Country Focus (web-based articles on IMFโs policy advice to its membership), the IMFโs Factsheet Series as well as multimedia products, such as podcasts, videos, and social media products and campaigns. The division also monitors and assesses the impact of products, using data analytics.
Under the general supervision of the Divisionโs managers, specific responsibilities in policy communications will include:
- Serve as managing editor of Finance & Development magazine. This involves leading the editorial team, overseeing the production of the magazineโs print and digital editions, and driving innovations to serve the readership across IMF member countries.
- Develop compelling written and multimedia content that showcases some of the most influential voices in economics and finance. Help explain complex issues, including the IMFโs work, to a general audience using non-technical language, compelling data, and visual storytelling.
- Edit and draft articles, opinion pieces, blog posts, and other content with an eye toward clear, concise and illuminating content that can be tailored to various channels and platforms, including social media and AI applications
- Contribute to other divisional and departmental efforts, as needed.
