Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. This position is within the Executive Office of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in Nairobi. The Security Risk consultant will work under the Corporate Coordination Unit of the Executive Office and report to the Executive Office Coordinator, under overall oversight of the Chief of Staff. Specific tasks and responsibilities: โข Produce a detailed assessment and review of current arrangements (Including communication, warden system, planning and execution of missions including convoy management, etc) at HQ, regional and country projects, and processes with UNDSS. โข Develop a set of recommendations to review and establish an appropriate security management system at UNEP. โข Prepare detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for relevant security-related functions, with particular attention to the level of coordination with UNDSS, in Nairobi and other duty stations. โข Produce a Security Management Plan (SMP) governing the interdependent nature of processes between UNEP HQ and UNDSS. โข Develop relevant guidance, templates and communication material for security focal points/senior management and UNEP personnel from global HQ perspective. โข Training on various security arrangements, including on Warden system, security communications and others as identified and delivered. Qualifications/special skillsA masterโs degree in security management, business administration, political/social science or international relations, police/military science or other relevant field with focus on security and security management may be considered as a substitute for 4 years of work experience A minimum of 8 yearsโ experience in national/international security management, civilian police or military is required. Direct experience with the United Nations Security Management System is a strong advantage. Experience with writing reports and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Experience in conducting Security training is an advantage. LanguagesFluency in Oral and written English is required.
