ContextThe UNDSS/ISW in Afghanistan provides professional safety and security services to enable the United Nations to deliver its programmes globally, even in the most challenging environments. UNDSS Afghanistan is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of UN personnel, assets, and operations throughout the country, supporting the UN's critical work in fostering peace, development, and humanitarian assistance. The SIOC within UNDSS/ISW Afghanistan is tasked with collecting, analyzing, and disseminating security information critical to the safety and security of UN personnel, assets, activities, and operations. SIOC is divided into two functional cells: SIOC Information and SIOC Operations. This assignment is aligned with SIOC Information's requirement to enhance the design and delivery of visual materials for security presentations, briefings, and reports. To that end, UNDSS Afghanistan is seeking the support of qualified Online Volunteer that will engage with the Security Information and Operations Centre (SIOC) of UNDSS/Integrated Security Workforce (ISW) in Afghanistan. The Online Volunteer will support the production of high-quality visual outputs and enhance SIOC's capacity to deliver clear, professional, and impactful presentations for the Country Security Management Team (SMT), the Country Security Cell, and other key platforms requiring security briefings and presentations. These platforms include security briefings for newly arrived personnel, visiting Senior UN Officials (SUNOs), and other officials requiring operational or security updates.

Task DescriptionUnder the overall leadership of the Principal Security Adviser (PSA), the Online Volunteer will report directly to the Chief of SIOC or the delegated Cell Manager (either the Senior Security Information Analyst or the Senior Security Operations Officer) and will be responsible for the following tasks: - Design professional PowerPoint presentations integrating security data, maps, and visual elements. - Develop high-quality visual communication products, including infographics, dashboards, and briefings. - Collaborate with SIOC Information and GIS specialists to align visual outputs with security content and data analysis. - Ensure all visual products adhere to UNDSS visual standards and branding guidelines. - Incorporate feedback from the SIOC team to refine presentations and visual content. Results/Expected Outputs: - High-quality PowerPoint presentations and visual communication materials tailored to SIOC and senior management needs. - Enhanced visual clarity and impact in security briefings and operational reports. - Improved capacity of SIOC Information to produce professional visual products. - The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring, and guidance during the assignment. - Final statement of achievements reflecting the volunteer's contributions to security presentation and visual communication enhancement.
