The Position:
The Security Analyst shall be based in Dhaka, with field visits to locations where UNFPA has operations in the country. Under the overall guidance and supervision of the UNFPA Representative, the Security Analyst in collaboration with the International Operations Manager (IOM), will coordinate the day-to-day security activities, and maintain a line of communication with the Office of the Security Coordinator (OSC) through the Asia and the Pacific Regional Security Adviser (RSA) on all technical and security policy issues.ย

Job Purpose:
The Security Analyst will assist the Representative in the implementation of the security related functions and provide leadership and advice to the Country Office (CO) personnel on all aspects related to planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of CO security activities including both Dhaka and UNFPA Sub Office in Coxโs Bazar. The Security Analyst maintains close co-operation with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), and other UN Security Management System organizations.ย
You would be responsible for:
Assist in the implementation of Security Risk Management (SRM) measures, Security Plan, Standard Operating Procedures and related guidelines. Respond to security incidents affecting UNFPA personnel, premises or assetsโwhether at residences, offices, or while travellingโeither by attending in person or by coordinating the appropriate response to reduce risk exposure. Provide followโup support on all incidents and accidents involving UNFPA personnel โ including eligible dependents - offices and assets, ensuring timely reporting and lessonโlearning. Organize and deliver security trainings and briefings โ including awareness, preparedness and induction sessions for newly arrived personnel โ in close coordination with UNDSS. Monitor the status of SRM and Residential Security Measures (RSM) compliance and facilitate corrective action to achieve and maintain full compliance. Identify needs for security equipment (as stipulated in SRM measures) and ensure all items โ e.g. Emergency Communications System (ECS) radios, satellite phones, IFAK/trauma kits, fire extinguishers, vehicle safety kits, CCTV, backup power units โ remain functional and properly accounted for. Facilitate programmeโrelated security assessments, working with UNFPA programme personnel so that UNDSS can integrate findings into the SRM process. Contribute to security risk assessments for UNFPA activities โ especially in higherโrisk areas โ in cooperation with, and under the guidance of, UNDSS or the RSA. Conduct security surveys and adโhoc venue assessments (new field offices, meeting sites, workshop venues, conferences, etc.) to obtain UNDSS and OSC clearance. Coordinate UNDSS security surveys of UNFPA Country and Field Offices and follows up on recommended actions. Liaise and coordinate, as appropriate, with UNDSS, the local government security organizations and/or personnel, including national and local provincial authorities, military, and police officers, as well as non-governmental organizations and other non-State actors. Compile and disseminate security information relevant to UNFPA operations, keeping the UNFPA Representative, IOM and RSA informed. Process and review security clearance requests for UNFPA personnel travelling to higher risk areas, verifying that SRM measures and local procedures are addressed before submission to UNDSS for approval. Maintain liaison with commercial companies used for UNFPA security at the UNFPA Country Office and Sub Offices and residences, as required. Provide general administrative support on security matters and maintain routine and confidential security files and correspondence. Track completion of mandatory security training and update to the Global Directory personal profiles for all UNFPA personnel in Bangladesh, liaising with UNDSS as needed. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of UNFPAโs security and business continuity management.Qualifications and Experience:ย

Masterโs degree in Security Risk Management, political/social or international relations, law enforcement law or related area or Licenseโs degree with at least one year of relevant progressively responsible experience in the field of security risk management or Bachelorsโ degree with at least two year of relevant progressively responsible experience in the field of security risk management or a Service with military or Police with technical certification in security management with at least two relevant progressively responsible experience in the field of security risk management.
Knowledge and Experience:ย
Prior experience in the relevant field is preferred. Field experience in a position within the UNSMS, NGOs, or similar entities, as well as experience working in crisis or humanitarian response settings to support programme delivery, would be considered an asset.ย Strong background in political and security analysis ideally in a regional context is desired. UNDSS/UNSMS Security Certification Programme (SCP) completion is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work closely with UN counterparts, government officials, Implementing Partners, NGOs and any other multi-lateral institutions.ย Demonstrated willingness and ability to travel to the field whenever necessary.Languages:ย
Fluency in English and Bangla is required. Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
