5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesSimukaAfrica.org is a registered as an UN SDG Action Cause established in 2009 as a response to the poverty, gender-based violence, and limited access to educational programs impacting at-risk girls, marginalized youth, and families in Zimbabwe. Our SDG 1 - 6 programs include the international 34Gallery.org Initiative, The Norton Library, and the Match-A-Meal Program among others. For this campaign, we seek enthusiastic and creative professionals who can share their skills and knowledge towards global mental health awareness. Whether you are an artist (any field), mental health professional, educator or youth mental health advocate, your contributions are crucial to ensuring that our program achieves the target objective of involving Zimbabwean youth, adults and the larger global audience directly with SDG 3 awareness, advocacy and change.

ContextSustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) covers good health and well-being goals. This overall purpose is to ensure healthy living for the global population, encourage preventative care and promote well-being at all ages. SDG 3 goals address all major health priorities, including mental, reproductive, maternal and child health; communicable, non-communicable and environmental disease; universal health coverage; and access for all to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines and vaccines. Our efforts focus on the reduction of the global suicide rate, elimination of mental health stigmas, and the continuation of the mental health dialogue beyond Mayโ€™s Mental Health Awareness Month. This assignment will amplify SimukaAfrica.org through our 34Gallery.org Initiative, which features monthly Art Therapy Open Calls in collaboration with other art institutions. The 34 Gallery selects 20 - 30 selected artists per month throughout 2025 for virtual exhibition. Selected works will be featured in an online campaign across Simukaโ€™s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube). We also prioritize mental health outreach in the virtual space by encouraging international populations without mental health care access to utilize self-care tips, art therapy exercises, and be inspired by in-depth interviews in our virtual publication, Interludes.

Task DescriptionSimukaAfrica.org is dedicated to destigmatizing mental health issues and emphasizing the importance of well-being among the youth, who were greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and societal changes. This initiative further seeks to generate positive mental health conversations, expand the online mental health community and lay the groundwork for sustained advocacy efforts. This project ultimately aims to inspire awareness on a global scale. The task involves creating and developing a comprehensive online creative arts campaign that utilizes a variety of artistic mediums to engage and educate the target audience. The campaign goal is to raise awareness of mental health issues by consolidating and generating publicity for artwork from our Open Call participants. Calls to Action will include educating the public on the mental health crisis, self-care, art therapy, and the benefits of art for child/youth development alongside therapeutic support. Online Volunteers are also encouraged to submit art of their own based on a mental health topic. The artwork will be shared on Simuka Africa Youth Associationโ€™s (SAYA) social media platforms. (Twitter-X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Facebook and YouTube). Short videos for the 34Gallery.org YouTube channel and Instagram Reels will also be created.
