5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances childrenโ€™s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And itโ€™s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support childrenโ€™s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for โ€“ and respond to โ€“ crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 80 countries.

There are 100 million reasons to join Plan International โ€“ will you be one of them?

The Opportunity

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Roving Country Director to join our Western and Central Africa Leadership Team.

The Country Director is critical to the overall success of the organisation and the achievement of its strategic objectives, including the delivery of the highest quality gender transformative programmes and courageous local, national and regional influencing. The Roving Country Director position has been created to help temporarily cover occasional Country Director positions across the fourteen countries in the Western and Central Africa region, to ensure that wherever possible the Country Offices have continuity of leadership.

The Roving Country Director will provide highly skilled, experienced, and senior-level management support and leadership to the country offices in the event of unexpected vacancies, in-country senior management team transitions, large-scale emergency responses, and other situations that may require senior leadership support including special assignments critical to the organisational or regional objectives.
