Mission and objectivesUNICRI is a United Nations entity established in 1968 and mandate to assist intergovernmental, governmental and non-governmental organizations in formulating and implementing improved policies in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. The Institute strongly emphasizes action-oriented analysis and integrated technical assistance. The current priorities are justice reform, financial and emerging crimes and security governance. UNICRI, as part of the European Unionโs (EU) CBRN Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative, has leveraged the expertise outlined in the Prosecutors Guide on Chemical and Biological (CB) Crimes and the Prosecutors Guide on Radiological and Nuclear (RN) Crimes to craft a comprehensive capacity-building and training package. This initiative is designed to enhance investigative, prosecutorial, and adjudicative capabilities within the realm of CBRN crimes.
ContextA volunteer will assist in reviewing the text and visual content of the Russian version of the Prosecutorโs Guidebook to Radiological and Nuclear Crimes to ensure consistency with the original English text. The Guidebook consists of 163 A4 pages and approximately 61,999 words. The expected start date of the collaboration is 22 January 2026.
Task DescriptionWe are seeking online volunteer to review and quality-control the Russian version of the Prosecutorโs Guide to Radiological and Nuclear Crimes. The volunteer will review the text and visual content of the Russian version of the Guidebook to ensure full alignment with the original English version of the Prosecutorโs Guide to Radiological and Nuclear Crimes. Specifically, the tasks include: Proofreading: o Thoroughly review the text of the Prosecutors Guidebook on Radiological and Nuclear crimes for typographical errors, grammatical mistakes, and other language-related issues. o Identify and correct the inconsistencies, errors, line breaks, and other mistakes in the text, based on the original text in English. o Ensure consistency in language usage, style, and formatting throughout the document. o Review and compare context of the Russian version of the Guidebook to ensure the Russian text is consistent with the English version. Graphic Elements: o Check captions, labels, and descriptions for photos, charts, and graphics to ensure accuracy and clarity. o Verify that the graphical elements align with the corresponding textual content. Consistency Check: o Ensure consistency in the use of fonts, font sizes, arrows, text color, and formatting styles across the entire guidebook. o Verify that the overall visual presentation aligns with established design standards. Communication: o Maintain clear and open communication with the designer to discuss corrections, suggestions, and improvements. Volunteers will collaborate closely with the UNICRI Team.
