The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center is seeking an innovative & multi skilled candidate to join its office in Anand, India, as a Research Officer - Water, Energy, and Livelihoods.

The Research Officer - Water, Energy, and Livelihoods will be an integral part of the core team in the IWMI-GIZ-CinI (Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives) collaborative research and action research project, \u201cSolar Energy for Rural Livelihoods\u201d (SE4RL). The incumbent will engage in field studies, field experiments, action research pilots, institutional and policy analyses, and stakeholder consultations to develop and evaluate business models for solar energy applications aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the SE4RL Project Leader in executing action research pilots, delivering promised research outputs, and achieving the project\u2019s development outcomes. Provide guidance and oversight to consultants, field associates, and student interns contributing to the SE4RL project. Author or co-author synthesis papers and policy briefs based on field and action research carried out as part of SE4RL. Engage with key stakeholders, including GIZ, CInI, IKEA Foundation, MNRE, and others, in project implementation, policy advocacy, and dissemination of project outcomes. Produce articles for peer-reviewed publications, in a timely manner, both jointly and independently, in accordance with IWMI\u2019s policies and procedures for publishing research outputs. Assist the SE4RL Project Leader in project management and donor reporting. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the SE4RL Project Leader.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

Master's degree in Rural Management, Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field. Minimum of 04 years of relevant experience.

Desirable:

Research or action-research experience with a proven track record of publications in relevant national and international journals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Essential:

Strong quantitative, qualitative, and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information and write persuasively. Clear understanding of development challenges, particularly in relation to the water-energy-food nexus in India. Ability and eagerness to undertake field-based research and action research. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse, interdisciplinary teams.

Desirable:

Ability to apply interdisciplinary knowledge from related fields to the water, energy, and agriculture sectors.

Benefits

This is a nationally recruited position and only Indian nationals will be considered. IWMI offers a competitive salary and benefits package, inclusive of health insurance, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, and long-term disability coverage. The duration of the contract will initially be for two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding.
