1.ย ย ย ย Objective of the Assignment
The objectives of the consultancy are to:
โข ย ย ย ย Identify accurate, up-to-date and reliable data and evidence for use in speeches and written materials
โข ย ย ย ย Provide concise analytical insights that explain trends, risks and opportunities
โข ย ย ย ย Support evidence-based messaging across priority thematic areas
โข ย ย ย ย Ensure consistency and factual accuracy of data used in leadership communications
2.ย ย ย ย Tasks/Deliverables
Tasks:
Research and Data Collection
โข ย ย ย ย Identify credible data sources (e.g. official statistics, peer-reviewed research, reputable international organizations)
โข ย ย ย ย Compile factoids, figures and comparative data relevant to priority themes
Trend and Context Analysis
โข ย ย ย ย Provide concise explanations of emerging issues, risks and developments
โข ย ย ย ย Highlight regional or sectoral variations where relevant
Analytical Briefing Notes
โข ย ย ย ย Prepare short analytical notes to inform speeches and written content
โข ย ย ย ย Summarize complex research into clear, non-technical language
โข ย ย ย ย Provide key takeaways and implications for messaging
Support to Speech and Content Development
โข ย ย ย ย Suggest data-driven angles or narratives based on research findings
โข ย ย ย ย Review draft content to verify factual accuracy
Deliverables:
โข ย ย ย ย 15โ18 research briefs or fact sheets supporting speeches or statements
โข ย ย ย ย Evidence packs for at least 20 speeches, social media posts, Forewords or other contentย
โข ย ย ย ย Source compendium listing key datasets and references used
3.ย ย ย ย Reporting
The Consultant will report directly to the Director of the News and Media Division.
4.ย ย ย ย Profile
Education
Essential: University degree in economics, public policy, statistics, social sciences, humanities, or a related field.
Experience
Essential: At least 3 years of experience in research, policy analysis or analytical support to communications or leadership.
Proven experience working with data, statistics and research sources.

โข ย ย ย ย Excellent synthesis skills, including summarizing complex material clearly and transforming it into compelling, engaging narratives

Languages
Essential: Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise and accurate texts.
5.ย ย ย ย Duration of assignment and Payment
The assignment runs from February to May 2026.
Payment will be made on a monthly basis, subject to submission of invoices by the Contractor, satisfactory completion of services and deliverables.
Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their daily remuneration expectations in Swiss Francs.
6.ย ย ย ย Other information
ICS contractors fall outside the coverage of employment contracts for WIPO. Staff members and are not subject to the WIPO Staff Regulations and Rules. The contractor has no entitlement to vacation or sick leave, except for WIPO official holidays, or to medical insurance or staff pension. Absences from work will be deducted from the contractorโs payment on a pro-rated basis.
