ContextUNDP Sri Lankaโs Flagship Portfolio on SDG16- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions brings together inclusive governance and peacebuilding work under one umbrella. The Portfolio is implemented by UNDP as part of its Country Programme and the United Nations Sustainable Development Framework and enables the provision of cohesive and integrated support to the Government of Sri Lanka. Under this portfolio, UNDP in partnership with the United Nations Childrenโs Fund (UNICEF) implements a comprehensive Support to Justice Sector Programme (JURE) supported by the European Union. The Programme contains a holistic package of support to the justice sector in Sri Lanka is implemented in close consultation and partnership with key justice sector institutions including the Ministry of Justice, Judicial Service Commission, Attorney Generalโs Department and Legal Aid Commission of Sri Lanka.
Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the NUNV will: * Programme Implementation and Gender Mainstreaming: Support the successful implementation of the Gender Action Plan of the JURE. Programme and gender-related activities, in coordination with JURE Technical Specialists, CO Gender Specialist and JURE Consultants. Track activities and ensure alignment to Annual Work Plan and support to set targets and activity plans, Liaise with justice sector institutions, civil society partners and other stakeholders to track implementation progress, with attention to financial, programmatic, and M&E compliance on gender related initiatives. Assist international and national consultants in the successful development and delivery of their assignments. Ensuring integration to project activities. * Coordination and Knowledge Management: Work collaboratively with the team members to embed gender sensitive approaches across the project activities. Assist in conducting project meetings, workshops, reviews, and other events. Assist in preparing background/resource materials for the events and draft meeting notes/minutes. * Communications and Outreach Coordinate with the JURE and UNDP CO Communications team to ensure project campaigns and media products are gender-sensitive and inclusive. Contribute to preparation of communication materials, reports, and knowledge products. Support partner agencies and institutions with gender sensitive communication products. * Monitoring, Reporting, and Data Management Assist in setting up processes for gender-disaggregated data collection and information management, ensuring regular and accurate reporting Support the timely preparation of work plans, budgets, progress updates, reports and other programme documents. * Operational and Financial Support Provide assistance with operations, procurement, and logistical services in line with programme needs. Support planning, expenditure tracking, and audit processes in accordance with UNDP rules and regulations. * Other Duties Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor. Furthermore, UN Volunteer is encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteer should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities: Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities. Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Living conditions and remarksColombo is situated on the Western Province of Sri Lanka and is the commercial capital of the country. Colombo is located on the west coast of the island and adjacent to the administrative capital, Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte. The climate is fairly temperate all throughout the year, but humidity is usually high. From March to April the temperature averages around 31 degrees Celsius (88 degrees Fahrenheit). The only major change in the Colombo weather occurs during the monsoon seasons from May to August and October to January when heavy rainfalls occur. Sri Lanka became a member of the United Nations on 14 December 1955. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. https://www.unv.org/
