ย Context
Ethiopia has one of the most complex human mobility environments in the world, with factors ranging from conflict, drought, environmental degradation, damage to basic services and infrastructure, to changing livelihood strategies in an evolving political and economic milieu where poverty, and progressive depletion of coping mechanisms available to the displaced and host communities exist in large portions of the country, often leading to more displacements. Health and MHPSS program in Ethiopia supports the vulnerable populations to cope with these situations by providing essential health and MHPSS services including medical consultations, nutrition, maternal and child health, health promotion and referrals to tertiary health facilities. The program has over 25 staff and 17 health facilities supported in Tigray, Amhara, South West, Oromia, Dire Dawa, Benshangul Gumuz, Somali and Afar regions. Health and MHPSS program has been supporting the migrants from the Sudan crisis at the point of entries between Ethiopia and Sudan borders. These activities are integrated with MHPSS program to ensure wholistic approach to patient care. In addition, it supports the governments through health system strengthening activities.ย ย
This is the position be required to support the IOM data for Health and MHPSS Team towards the successful implementation of IOM Health, & MHPSS related projects in Mekelle, Tigray region region, Ethiopia.
Under the overall direction of the Chief migration health officer with technical oversight of the Program officer โ Health and MHPSS, and direct supervision from Mgiration health officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of quality health services as part of the IOM Mobile Health and Nutrition teams, in connection with other IOM emergency health activities
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of health and MHPSS project activities.ย
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics under migration health unit.ย
- Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.ย ย
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.ย
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation.ย
- Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.ย
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
University Degree in computer science, statistics, Epidemiology or related field in health statistics.ย
2 years experience in managing health data.Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.ย Experience
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;ย
Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills- Experience in recognized institutions in primary health care is an advantage.
- Experience in applying nationally and internationally accepted protocols and guidelines.ย
- Computer literate.
- Experience in Emergency health response or implementing health services for migrants, refugee and displaced persons and other vulnerable groups; including early recovery or post crisis emergency health programmingย
Must have DHIS/DHMIS working knowledgeLanguages
