ย Context
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) in Panama and the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes, and in collaboration with relevant units in the Country Office, the Regional Office and/or Headquarters, the Project Assistant (Programme Support) will provide administrative and operational support to the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of project activities in the Panama Country Office.ย ย
- Provide administrative and logistical support in the preparation of concept note and project proposals.ย
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.ย
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Assist with drafting status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.ย
- Assist in collecting and organizing information related to new project ideas or ongoing initiatives as requested.
- Support with data entry and routine updates in PRIMA and assist in maintaining accurate project information in the system.ย
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
- School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Experience in administrative or clerical support, preferably in project or programme assistance.ย
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย Skills
- Basicย knowledge of PRIMA.
- Familiarity with the IOM Projectย cycle is an advantage. ย
Languages
- For this position, fluency in English and Spanish is required (oral and written). IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
