Project Assistant

Description for Internal Candidates     Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates. For all IOM vacancies, applications from qualified and eligible first-tier candidates are considered before those of qualified and eligible second-tier candidates in the selection process. For the purpose of this vacancy, internal candidates are considered first-tier candidates.

1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. 
2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics. 
3. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
4. Monitor the provision of migrant assistance and protection services in the TTCs in Gevgelija and Tabanovce by conducting weekly (or bi-weekly) site visits with the aim to strengthen the migrants’ access to quality services. 
5. Monitor the infrastructure and hygiene maintenance of the sites to identify gaps and areas for intervention according to the nationally accepted standards to meet the needs of migrants and refugees. 
6. Draft visit reports that will capture the views and concerns of the personnel, stakeholders, as well as the migrants present in the TTCs and report the findings to the project management. 
7. Draft statistics and reports on the arrivals and the provided services to the migrants and refugees at the TTCs that will be reported regularly to the project management team.
8. Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation. 
9. Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    • School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
    • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience
      • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
      • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
      • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantageLanguages

      • This selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible to be appointed in a similar position for a period of 24 months.

11. Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, verification of residency, visa, and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. Vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for IOM personnel who are hired or otherwise engaged by IOM. As part of the mandatory medical entry on duty clearance, candidates will be requested to provide evidence of full vaccination.
