Mission and objectivesUNDP has been a committed partner of the Government of Iran in fulfilling its development objectives. UNDP has also been working closely with other development partners, such as civil society, academic institutions, and the private sector, by providing technical assistance and knowledge for more than 50 years. UNDP is committed to helping Iran achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals as well as the objectives articulated in the new UNDP Country Programme Document signed between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and UNDP.
ContextIn Islamic Republic of Iran, UNDP has been working since 1966 to contribute to fulfil the countryโs development aspirations as a partner of the Government of Iran. UNDP has also been engaging closely with other development partners, such as academic institutions and the private sector, by providing knowledge products, policy and technical assistance, and innovative development solutions, for more than 50 years. Connecting to UNDP Global network of expertise and South-South cooperation are an integral part of our work. UNDP is committed to helping Iran achieve the National Development Goals (NDP) and the Global Goals (SDG) as articulated in the Country Programme Document. Against this backdrop, UNDP Iran is fully engaged in supporting a new development plan looking at digitalization, resilience and a more balance approach with nature in terms of economic development. The UNDP team will work on new opportunities to integrate environment and climate change issues with socio-economic issues, moving beyond incremental, single point solutions to initiatives that are a better fit with the scale and speed of deep systemic development problems and frontier challenges facing the I. R of Iran. The team will take forward the existing portfolio of the country office, will build on it and will make special efforts to take different ongoing initiatives to scale. This UN Volunteer assignment is part of UNDP Kazakhstanโs initiative which is an EU-funded Afghan Women Empowerment project. As part of this initiative, it is encouraged to employ the project beneficiary to support UNDP Iranโs Programme unit. The timeline for this assignment would be for six months with possibility of extension.
Task DescriptionUnder the overall guidance and supervision by the Programme officer, the UNV will work with the Programme unit and will support the following tasks: โข Research and information provision regarding the thematic action areas and national priorities in Iran โข Present best practices of other UNDP CO offices in the RBAP in requested thematic including Environment and socio-economic โข Intelligence gathering and producing partner/donor profiles and briefing notes; โข Planning and organizing webinars or workshops on resource mobilization โข Support other partnerships-related activities as needed. Results/expected outputs: As an active UNDP CO programme team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNDP Co and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: โข Accurate data entry, presentation of information and best practices is enhanced in terms of design and implementation of relevant Programme services. โข Establishing strategic partnership with national and international entities is supported to diversify UNDPโs partnership initiatives โข A donor profile report is developed and presented to UNDP Iran with respect to national priorities and UNDPโs mandate in Iran
