The Programme Management Officer (SLT) will be responsible for supporting the implementation and coordination of the Saving Lives Together (SLT) Framework, which is grounded in a shared commitment to security, ensuring that all partners work together to create a safer operational environment for humanitarian and development activities. The position is situated within UNDSS - Division of Field Operations, reporting to Director/Deputy Director DFO, and works closely with SLT focal points, security officers, and partner organizations. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Programme Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties: โ€ข Develops, implements and evaluates the overall workplan for the SLT Framework globally including the SLT Oversight Committee; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions. โ€ข Acts as the Global SLT Focal Point for UNDSS at the Headquarters in New York โ€ข Manages and maintains contact with global network of SLT focal points in the field; support and respond to issues and challenges faced. โ€ข Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources. โ€ข Coordinates policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies, โ€ข Generates survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identify problems/issues and prepares conclusions. โ€ข Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. โ€ข Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. โ€ข Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. โ€ข Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). โ€ข Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. โ€ข Performs other duties as required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work ExperienceA minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required. At least two years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. Field experience in the United Nations Common System or similar international organizations, in conflict or post-conflict settings, is desirable. Demonstrated experience in operational coordination and security support to United Nations entities, INGOs (international non-governmental organizations), and NGOs (non-governmental organizations) is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required.
