Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Corporate Services Division (CSD) is the guardian of UNEP's corporate interest, mitigating the organization's exposure to risk and supporting it with up-to-date management tools, guidelines and capacity building. CSD oversees UNEP's efficient and effective management as well as adherence to the core values of the UN in line with relevant accountability requirements, rules and regulations. This position is located in the Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations Unit (RM & DRU), Corporate Services Division at the Nairobi duty station. Under the supervision of the Senior Programme Management Officer, the incumbent will perform the following functions: Responsibilities1.Development and management of corporate funding agreements: โข Conducts research and supports development of new concepts and instruments for receiving flexible funding for the organization. โข Prepares new corporate funding agreements and revisions of current agreements in line with the requirements of UNEP and the funding partners. โข Coordinates, consolidates and reviews funding proposals related to corporate funding agreements in compliance with internal quality control and requirements of the funding partners. โข Monitors the implementation of the corporate funding agreements and submits timely reports to management and funding partners; โข Monitors and analyses programme/project implementation related to corporate funds; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; provides guidance to project managers on both programmatic and financial aspects; identifies and tracks follow-up actions. 2.Research, analysis and reporting on organization's funding and funding partners: โข Researches, analyzes and presents information on the organizationโs funding, income patterns, related estimates, and on funding partners. โข Coordinates automation of income information and reporting using platforms, e.g. Power Business Intelligence. โข Gathers, researches and analyses information on the organization's funding needs for development and maintenance of pipeline of funding proposals. โข Contributes to preparation of various written outputs relating to resource mobilization including presentations, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications. โข Assists in policy development for resource mobilization, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies. โข Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions. โข Contributes and provides responses/information to audit queries from Board of Auditors, Office for Internal Oversight Services and other oversight queries relating to income. 3.Development and management of relationships with funding partnerships: โข Supports bilateral consultations and other meetings including drafting agendas, identifying and proposing participants, preparing background materials, handling logistics and preparing meeting summaries. โข Prepares responses and communicates with funding partners related to their contributions to the organization. โข Oversees the invoicing and receipting for funds managed by the Section including ensuring that all requisite documentations are prepared and shared with the funding partners. โข Participates in the development of Client Relationship Management systems and tools including Umoja Extension 2 Fundraising module. โข Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities in support of improved coordination in the organisation for resource mobilization. 4. Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. 5.Performs other related duties as required CompetenciesPROFESSIONALISM: Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to resource mobilization and partnerships. EducationAdvanced university degree (Masterโs degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of two (2) years of experience at the international level is desirable. Work experience in donor relations is desirable.
