WRI India, an independent charity legally registered as the India Resources Trust, provides objective information and practical proposals to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development. WRI Indiaโs mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earthโs environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations. Through research, analysis, and recommendations, WRI India puts ideas into action to build transformative solutions to protect the earth, promote livelihoods, and enhance human well-being.
We are inspired by and associated with World Resources Institute (WRI), a global research organization. Currently over 400 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.Program Overview for Energy
The objective of the WRI India energy program is to inform and guide Indiaโs transition to cleaner energy through strong research, ground-level implementation experience, partnerships with key stakeholders and communicating our work. The 5 pillars of the energy program focus on increasing clean energy demand, increasing clean energy supply, supporting sub-national energy transitions, raising the issues of materials and circularity for the energy transition and ensuring equitable development through energy transitions. About your role: The Energy Program at WRI India is seeking a Program Research Analyst to work with and support research focused on electricity transmission system planning and resilience. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented candidate. The ideal candidate will be responsible for compiling, organizing, and analysing documents and data related to disaster management in the energy sector. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities:
Conduct literature review and collate, interpret, and analyse regulatory/electricity data from tariff petitions/orders, rules, regulations, etc. Should be able to understand, interpret and summarise key electricity sector documents such as regulatory orders, CEA reports, draft regulations, discussion papers, etc.Gather and compile data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and relevance.Read, interpret, and analyse documents such as disaster management plans, reports, and guidelines for a select number of Indian states.Conduct techno-economic analysis of disaster management plans. Should be familiar with basic financial concepts such as time value of money, discount rates, cost benefit analysis, return on investments, etc.Prepare detailed reports and summaries based on research findings and document analysis.Present research findings and analysis to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.Work closely with senior analysts, project managers, and other team members to support ongoing projects.Stay updated with the latest developments in disaster management and energy sector policies.Be pro-active in researching and pitching ideas and understanding policy and regulatory processes associated with disaster management in the energy sector.Qualification and Requirements:
Masterโs degree in public policy, economics, or related disciplines.2-5 years of post-study research experience related to energy policy, techno-economic analysis, energy/power sector, etc.Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary teamStrong experience in policy analysis, data interpretation, and qualitative and quantitative research methods.Familiarity with basic financial concepts and technoeconomic analysis is necessary.Excellent research, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a requirement.Experience engaging with policymakers, government agencies, and international organizations on energy policy issues is desirable.Familiarity with disaster management planning and responses is desirable.Duration: 1 year as term hire (extendable based on performance and project requirements) Location: Preferably Mumbai or Pune, but flexible on location Salary & Benefits: INR 950000- INR 1250000 Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills.
