ContextUN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. UN Womenโs China Office in Beijing supports and carries out work on (i) enhancing women's economic empowerment (WEE); (ii) ending violence against women (EVAW); (iii) innovative work to address gender issues in China (QWFIS);(iv) contributing to gender equality and womenโs empowerment in China (CGF) and (v) using media to promote gender equality (Communication). In addition to the above, UN Women also actively participates and contributes to various UN inter-agency processes and collaborates with UN organizations around specific programme areas. The online volunteer will support the Partnerships team and is expected to deliver on a timely, quality and results-oriented approach to support the officeโs overall partnerships and resource mobilization efforts as well as the development of the Beijing+30 Private Sector in China Flagship Research Report.
Task DescriptionThe Online Volunteer will be asked to support the officeโs overall efforts in conducting research and analysis on private sector partners โ including potential funders and Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) signatories in China in three main ways: - Perform a variety of quantitative and qualitative research and analytical activities to examine different types of funders in China - Conduct targeted research to prepare for and support partnership outreach efforts - Support the development of the Beijing+30 Private Sector in China Flagship Research Report. While the volunteer will work remotely, the Online Volunteer is expected to be online for 16-20 hours per week during regular business hours and able to commit to 10-12 weeks for this role. The volunteer will communicate and exchange information with the team over email, Teams and other channels. The volunteer will also be expected to provide support and/or participate in virtual team meetings and report to the Public and Private Sector Partnership Specialist.
