Result of ServiceThe Individual Contractor (IC) is expected to provide high-quality paramedical support as per the operational needs of the UNVMC, particularly in remote areas where medical missions are conducted. The IC must submit monthly progress reports in electronic format (PDF or Word), detailing the medical activities carried out, locations visited, types of cases attended, and any significant incidents or follow-ups required. Reports should also include relevant statistics (e.g., number of consultations, types of treatments administered), photographs when appropriate (e.g., of field setups or medical posts), and a summary of logistical or operational challenges encountered. All documentation must follow UN formatting standards. In addition to monthly reports, the IC may be required to submit interim updates upon request by the Chief Medical Officer. All outputs must be submitted electronically unless otherwise specified. Key deliverables are to be completed within the contract period, with monthly submission deadlines falling on the last business day of each month. All deliverables must align with the overall timeline and objectives of the mission. Late or incomplete submissions may affect contract renewal and performance evaluations. Each location meets the minimum standards for safe and habitable living conditions. Deliver services in designated and remote areas, including but not limited to Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Boyacรก, Cundinamarca, Guajira, Arauca, Norte de Santander, Santander, Putumayo, Chocรณ, Caquetรก, Nariรฑo, Guaviare, Guainรญa, Vichada, Casanare, Tolima, Meta, Antioquia, Cesar, Huila, Sucre, Bolรญvar, and surrounding areas. Responding to emergencies and services necessities may require a movement of the duty station, a temporary assignment according to the UNVMC's needs. In case of operational planning with the closure or opening of new offices, the movement of the Individual Contractor may be required. Work assignment โ€ข Provides emergency assistance to UNVMC staff as a first responder and/or trains UNVMC staff to provide it. โ€ข Attends, orients, and supports routine medical needs. โ€ข Ensures and/or facilitates 24/7 in-person emergency care availability in assigned locations to support UNVMC operations, including responses during weekends and UN holidays. โ€ข Identifies and plans medical material, supplies, and equipment requirements and raises requisitions accordingly. โ€ข Delivers services in designated and remote areas, including but not limited to Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Boyacรก, Cundinamarca, Guajira, Arauca, Norte de Santander, Santander, Putumayo, Chocรณ, Caquetรก, Nariรฑo, Guaviare, Guainรญa, Vichada, Casanare, Tolima, Meta, Antioquia, Cesar, Huila, Sucre, Bolรญvar, and surrounding areas. โ€ข Maintains and updates records on equipment, supplies, maintenance schedules, and waste disposal management. โ€ข Responsible for the preparation of emergency/trauma/evacuation kits. โ€ข Conducts medical briefings for incoming staff and updates monthly medical reports. โ€ข Maintains valid certifications, including: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support), a university degree in Prehospital Care (minimum 6 semesters), and Spanish proficiency (minimum level B2 for non-native speakers). โ€ข Operates under ethical, confidential, and professional standards, using proper identification and adhering to gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory practices. โ€ข Assists and participates as a facilitator in medical-related security training within UNVMC, as required. โ€ข Supports the delivery of medical-related training to both security and non-security personnel. โ€ข Collaborates with the UNVMC Medical Officer and Field Teams in daily and extraordinary activities (some of which may involve overnight stays or travel). โ€ข Participates in Occupational Health and Safety promotion, prevention activities, and team risk awareness campaigns. โ€ข Serves as an Occupational Health NS Safety focal point at the assigned duty station. โ€ข Submits monthly reports and attendance records for payment processing. โ€ข Supports the emergency brigade activities. โ€ข Performs other duties, as required. Qualifications/special skillsCertified Paramedic or Prehospital Care Technician (PHCT), with current registration or license issued by a recognized national health authority with a minimum of 6 semesters. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in the provision of health care services, preferably in pre-hospital, emergency, or field settings, is required. Demonstrated ability to provide emergency medical care in high-pressure environments, apply triage protocols, and ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment, are required. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, high ethical standards, discretion, and the ability to operate independently in diverse cultural and operational contexts, are required. Valid certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), First Aid, and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) are mandatory. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in Spanish is required.
