Introduction
UNDP Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBLAC) is looking for a qualified: \"Food Systems Research Consultant\" to support the implementation of the \"00128105 - Green Commodities Programme Phase II\" projectโ.
Title / Consultancy: Individual Contract_\"Food Systems Research Consultant\"
Country: Home-based.
Duration of assignment: 6 months.
Estimated Start Date: June 2025.
Description/background of Assignment:
The Conscious Food Systems Alliance (CoFSA), convened by UNDP, is a movement of food, agriculture, and consciousness practitioners united around a common goal: to support people from across food and agriculture systems to cultivate the inner capacities that activate systemic change and regeneration. It aims at establishing the cultivation of inner capacities as a key evidence-based approach to envision and create regenerative food systems, while building legitimacy and understanding for this approach.
The UNDP Food Systems Team has recently launched a new initiative on the power dynamics in food systems transformation, called the Food & Power Initiative (FPI). The focus of this initiative will be on helping countries and other stakeholders to better understand, navigate the power dynamics and political economic factors that constrain food systemsโ transformation at global, regional and national levels, and address power asymmetries. This initiative has been developed following an extensive series of consultations and desk-based research, supplemented by a 5- stage co-design process with 15 expert organizations.
The Food Systems team seeks the services of a Food Systems research Consultant to conduct research and develop reports on specific initiatives. The consultant will work closely with UNDP Food Systems team members, in particular the Senior Food Systems Advisor in charge of the Food and Power Initiative and the Conscious Food Systems Alliance Technical Advisor, UNDP staff both at global and country office level, partner agencies focal points, and donors. The consultant will report to the Food Systems Senior Food Systems Advisor for work relating to the Food and Power Initiative and to the Conscious Food Systems Alliance Technical Advisor for CoFSA report development.
