5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances childrenโ€™s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And itโ€™s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support childrenโ€™s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for โ€“ and respond to โ€“ crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 80 countries.

In our new global strategy, All Girls Standing Strong Creating Global Change (2022-2027), Plan International emphasises that working with and through partners is critical to achieving the goal of impacting positively the lives of 200 million girls over the next five years and that to increase our impact and strengthen our legitimacy as a leader in gender-transformative change we must prioritise evolving into an organisation which is โ€œlocally-led, and globally connectedโ€. Partnerships and civil society strengthening are already core components of Plan Internationalโ€™s Programming and Influencing approach, however advancing the quality of our programming and influencing work in partnership, working more equitably with partners and in ways that strengthen civil society, in all contexts, with partners are critical to achieve our goals.
