Weโre inviting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders and community members from across Australia to join the Our Yarning Advisory Group at Library For All.
Our Yarning is a library of books created by and for community, designed to reflect the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and spark a love of reading. These stories ensure cultural integrity and share a wide range of voices and perspectives.
Library For All is no ordinary Not-for-Profit.

As a member of the Advisory Group, youโll help maintain the cultural integrity of a special Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Library. Your advice will ensure the books we publish are culturally respectful, inclusive, and truly reflect the voices and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Youโll be a valued advisor, advocate, and connectorโhelping us build strong community ties and share our work far and wide.
This part-time role can be done remotely and has a small honorarium for your cultural input into each meeting. Terms of the contribution is to be discussed in an interview.
You will make a difference by:
Giving advice on cultural and social matters related to publishing. Helping ensure our books are respectful and appropriate. Promoting Our Yarning through your networks and community. Supporting us in building partnerships and finding funding. Being part of a team that values collaboration and cultural safety.A place to feel valued
We welcome people from all regions, age groups, and backgrounds to ensure a wide range of voices are heard. Specific requirements include:
You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. You bring your cultural knowledge and lived experience to the table. Youโre reliable, respectful, and passionate about storytelling. You have expertise in not for profits, business strategy, publishing, education, or childrenโs librarianship.Whatโs involved:
Attend at least 3 meetings per year (each about 2 hours). Stay in touch via email and meetings. Support the program in small ways outside of meetings. Help us keep the space culturally safe and respectful.Does this sound like the place for you?
