The Caribbean Region is seeking an Operations Analyst (OA) to support the updating and implementation of the IFC country strategy, business development, and transaction processing in the Region. The AO will work on a number of assigned countries, across different IFC sectors, and with industry teams on the design, negotiation, structuring, and supervision of projects. The position will be based in either Kingston or Santo Domingo.ย ย
Duties and Accountabilities
Strategy
โข ย Develop and maintain a good understanding of the economic, political and business environment in the region.
โข ย Contribute to WBG strategy documents such as Country Private Sector Diagnostics and Country Partnership Frameworks.ย ย
โข ย Monitor sectoral and financial market developments.
Business development and transaction processing
โข ย Work with investment, advisory, upstream, and relevant WBG teams to roll out the IFC strategy and develop a strong project pipeline.
โข ย Build and maintain internal and external relationships to support business development, processing and portfolio management.
โข ย Work as an integral part of investment teams on project design, structuring, and processing, as needed.
โข ย Support key missions/trips in the region.
โข ย In the context of growing the business, help prepare high-quality briefs and presentations for WBG senior management.
Portfolio management
โข ย Develop a good understanding of the portfolio, assist with resolving issues, and contribute to maintaining good relationships with existing clients.
Selection Criteria
โข ย Degree, preferably in finance, business administration, public policy, management, economics, or a similar field.ย
โข ย At least 2 years of relevant experience.
โข ย Experience or a strong interest in working in the Caribbean; familiarity with the development challenges will be an advantage.ย
โข ย Strong analytical, credit, and financial modeling skills, and experience assessing the viability of business opportunities and risks will be an advantage.
โข ย Good understanding of IFCโs investment and advisory business lines and products, and knowledge of IBRDโs operations will be an advantage.
โข ย Knowledge of industries (e.g. financial sector, infrastructure, energy, agribusiness, manufacturing, etc.) and opportunities in the region will be an advantage.
โข ย Team player, collaborative, creative, client-oriented, driven to build the business in the Region, and willing to travel frequently.ย
โข ย Excellent English language skills, written and oral. French or Spanish will be a strong advantage.
