The Office of the President supports all aspects of the strategic and operational functioning of the GGO division and supports the division President to lead and oversee our diverse and exciting work. GGO has gone through rapid growth in recent years, currently comprising almost 200 staff and close to $1 billion in annual charitable payout.
Your Role
The Officer, Special Initiatives in the GGO Office of the President, supports the design and implementation of division-level strategic priorities. You will also support the six program teams in GGO on major strategy development efforts. This position will respond as needed to emerging questions and priorities from the division President and Chief of Staff. You are responsible for contributing to a team of divisional support staff working to ensure that GGO has strong practices and performance in gauging strategy progress against key outcomes, researching key strategy-related topics as they emerge, and bringing innovative thinking and approaches to developing or refining strategies. You support leveraging insights to develop high-quality, engaging learning experiences for the division, and to facilitate effective cross-team collaboration. For GGO teams, you act as a key collaborator and resource to strategy, planning, and management counterparts in program teams to add capacity and value to their work. You provide support for meetings and updates with foundation leadership that require strategic framing and content.
This role reports to the Deputy Director, Measurement, Learning, and Evaluation, Office of the President, for the Global Growth and Opportunity division. This position is located in Seattle, WA where employees enjoy a flexible, hybrid work schedule, working from the office 50% of the time. Relocation benefit to move to Seattle, WA for this role is available.

What You'll Do
Provide leadership and support to ensure that projects aimed at answering key division-level strategic issues are analytically grounded, account for the divisionโs comparative advantage and resources, and have the appropriate collaborator input.
Design and conduct analyses regarding strategy design, implementation, and measurement approaches at the division- and program team-level. Support teams in continuous improvement by integrating these analyses into their processes and decision making.
Collaborate with program teams and partners to support their efforts around strategy design, implementation, and measurement, particularly as it relates to division-level priorities.
Establish effective relationships with key partners both within GGO and across the organization to ensure pivotal initiatives are operationalized successfully.
As needed, support external relationship management with key collaborators.
Prepare and write briefs based on syntheses of existing evidence. Provide written analysis of key topics for foundation management.
Respond efficiently and effectively to emergent requests from leadership.
Collaborate with peers to develop quality team learning experiences that are actionable and responsive to emerging insights and the needs of programmatic staff.
Facilitate effective and inclusive collaborator engagement to inform effective decision making.
Develop and maintain knowledge management practices and assets.
Your ExperienceAn advanced degree or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Significant experience contributing to strategy efforts for large-scale global development projects, with a preference for expertise in private/public sector partnerships, upstream research and development, and service delivery.
Significant experience working with partners in low- and middle-income countries, with a preference for experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
Preference for domain expertise and applied experience in one or more of GGOโs focus areas: Agriculture, Education, Nutrition, Digital Public Infrastructure, Inclusive Financial Systems, and Sanitation.
Experience in structured problem solving, data analysis, and interpretation.
Experience in decision support via effective analysis, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Experience in maneuvering through organizational interests to successfully land complex projects. This includes building strong relationships with decision makers, handling conflicting opinions fairly, and navigating to a decision with either consensus or agreement.
Strong knowledge of strategy development, implementation, and performance management systems.
Collaborator and relationship builder. Experience working in a matrixed organization.
Strong facilitation skills, particularly related to programmatic and organizational learning.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to identify and communicate external and internal dynamics, as well as articulate implications for strategy, priorities, and evolution.
Ability to work in a self-guided manner, care for multiple priorities and to demanding timelines.

The salary range for this role is $140,200 to $210,200 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle, WA and Washington D.C., where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $152,800 to $229,200 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidateโs job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
