OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
UNESCO is inviting written proposals from Individual Consultants for the work assignment described below:
The written proposal should comprise:
- A Technical Proposal consisting of:
- Most recent curriculum vitae; and
- A technical proposal of no more than three pages outlining the consultantโs approach for succesfull youth project implementation, timeline, and relevant past projects.
- A financial proposal of no more than one page specifying total compensation in USD. Please identify any travel costs separately (if applicable).

BACKGROUND
For over 20 years, UNESCO has been working with thousands of young people worldwide by establishing and supporting youth-led initiatives and networks, strengthening youth capacities, fostering their knowledge production, and creating dialogue spaces between youth, policymakers and other partners. UNESCO understands that young people embody hope for better, innovative, and more effective solutions to the worldโs challenges, which align with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 2045 Vision of Indonesia.
This year, UNESCO Jakarta Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS) aims to implement youth capacity building activity, the โYouth as Researchersโ (hereafter โYARโ) programme. YAR aims to enhance the ability of youth to conduct quality research and thus contribute to solving current societal challenges in Indonesia.
OBJECTIVES
The main purpose of the consultancy is to coordinate the overall delivery of the 2025 Social and Human Sciences Programme on YAR programme during the project implementation period, liaising with UNESCO, implementing partners, participating universities, youth researchers, and academic advisors.

OUTPUTS
The expected outputs from this assignment are, but not limited to, organization of online and in-person training sessions for youth participants, facilitating and leading stakeholder coordination meetings, and the dissemination of youth research outputs. The Individual Consultant shall also prepare the reporting and final project outcome documents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Jakarta, the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Social and Human Sciences (SHS), the Individual Consultant shall:
- Coordinate the launch event:
- Liaise with UNESCO partners and university partners to coordinate the recruitment of youth participants with inclusivity and gender approaches for the YAR programme.
- Liaise and deliver the event launch preparation including but not limited to development of agenda, logistical preparation, and identify suitable presenters.
- Manage the implementation:
- Contribute to the development of YAR curriculum that covers i.e the following:
- Social inclusion research
- Methodology and Data collection and analysis
- Research science communication
- Lead the coordination and ensure smooth delivery of online research trainings.
- Organize and regularly update project database of participants (in line with UNESCO data and privacy guidelines).
