OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health and development agendas, and harmonized with the United Nations country teams.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The purpose of the position is to coordinate and prepare with internal and external counterparts specific input in formulation and implementation of disability inclusive health system, national rehabilitation policy, rehabilitation services (incl. access to assistive products) as well as human resource development to address rehabilitation population needs in Gaza.ย
Specific duties:
Support the effective implementation of WHO activities related to disability and rehabilitation programme on strengthening the service delivery functions of the health system, Organize or assist in receiving, giving functional shelter, channelling and supporting all types of WHO presence, visits and missions in the country, and monitor and follow-up the recommendations to ensure change. Support and contribute to identification of areas for collaboration with the country, capacity building needs, priority health areas to be addressed , and to provide relevant technical support on rehabilitation, access to assistive products, disability inclusive health in health care services delivery and health system ย strengthening, in collaboration with colleagues as needed. Collect information, analyse, prepare and contribute in a regular and timely manner to various types of materials, reports and situation analyses related to disability, rehabilitation and assistive technology and coordination needs in the country. Assist and contribute in certifying the correct, high technical quality, policy relevant and timely implementation of all tasks and activities, including technical assistance, support to policy dialogue and capacity building, carried out under the donor financed initiatives or in agreed partnerships with partners at country level. Support in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project on Scaling-up access to rehabilitation and assistive technology' with Ministry of Health, UN agencies, development partners and civil society organizations in developing, implementing and evaluating national strategies and policies on strengthening rehabilitation services and access to assistive products both at national and sub-national level. Supporting development of priority assistive product list and its provision within National Health Services. Engage with other initiatives at country level, including those addressing vertical programs; public health and social services; coordination of providers and settings; from the universal health coverage, health services and health system strengthening lenses that puts people at the centre of health systems. Maintain regular contacts with institutions and associations concerned with disability and rehabilitation, including UN agencies, non-governmental agencies, professional associations and scientific bodies for exchange of information and coordination of activities. Provide technical support to programmes within the country office in mainstreaming disability, rehabilitation in the health agenda. To engage with other initiatives at country level, including those addressing vertical programs; public health and social services; coordination of providers and settings; from the universal health coverage, health services and HSS lenses that puts people at the centre of health systems. Assist in fundraising for promotion of disability and rehabilitation programme. To perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: University degree (bachelor's degree or higher) in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, medicine, public health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or social sciences.
Desirable: Master's degree (or higher) or postgraduate training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, medicine, public health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or social sciences.
Experience
Essential: At least two years of national work experience in the field of disability, rehabilitation, assistive technology and policy, services and systems.
Desirable: ย Relevant work experience in an international environment such as WHO / UN, governmental/public, intergovernmental organizations and/or non-governmental organizations. Experience in drafting and implementation of national policies and regulatory documents especially in the sphere of health, rehabilitation and assistive technology.ย

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at ILS 269,618 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
