The UNEP Law Division is the lead Division charged with carrying out the functions of UNEP in the field of environmental law, governance, and related policy issues, including those related to multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs). It works with international and nongovernmental organizations, national and local governments, business and industry to develop and implement policies, strategies and practices that are cleaner and safer, incorporate environmental costs, use natural resources efficiently, reduce pollution and risks for humans and the environment, and enable the implementation of Conventions and international Agreements. UNEP is an Implementing Agency of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. Under the Law Division OzonActionโs Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) provides global management services to ensure that National Ozone Units (NOUs) are provided adequate advisory services, capacity building and technical assistance to implement activities approved by the Multilateral Fundโs Executive Committee. At the same time, the global programme management services ensure that the Executive Committee receives timely, accurate, relevant and high-quality project proposals, financial and substantive reports, and information about the implementation of actions on the ground. At the 93rd meeting, the Executive Committee by decision 93/68 approved Stage I of the Kigali HFC implementation Plan (KIP) for Mexico for the period 2023 - 2029 to reduce HFC consumption by 10 percent of the countryโs estimated baseline by 2029. One of UNEPโs components will contribute to gender mainstreaming and promote women's participation in the implementation of the KIP in Mexico. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the OzonAction Montreal Protocol Programme Management OfficerLatin America Network and under the overall guidance of the Head of OzonAction, the consultant will: 1) Develop and implement the activities for the outreach campaign to promote the inclusion of women in careers related to the RAC sector, with a focus on high school students. 2) Identify and disseminate good practices initiated by companies for the integration of the gender dimension in the RAC sector, as well as other actions under the KIP, and the related activities identified. 3) Promote the enrollment and professional development of female high school students l in RAC -related careers and implement the related activities. 4) Prepare a concise report on gender mainstreaming dissemination activities, including recommendations and opportunities for improvement, supported by photographic evidence. 5) Organize and facilitate meetings and workshops as required under this consultancy. 6) Contribute to strengthening performance indicators, in line with documents and decisions by the Executive Committee and the Multilateral Fund Secretariat. Qualifications/special skillsA masterโs degree in social or behavioral sciences or other relevant discipline, is required. Other academic qualifications in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the masterโs degree. โข A minimum of five (5) years working experience in the field of gender analysis, gender equality or gender mainstreaming is required. โข Prior working experience with international organizations, and/or inter-governmental organizations at the global, regional and national level, is desirable Experience in working in/with the private sector, including the industrial sector, is desirable Demonstrated experience in assessing the needs, conditions, and challenges of developing countries in the context of sustainable development, is desirable. LanguagesFluency in oral and written Spanish is required.
