Organizational Setting
FAO Azerbaijan Partnership and Liaison Office, in close cooperation with the government and its in-line Ministries/Agencies, contributes to the sustainable agri-food systems, and supports the government with addressing issues food security, agriculture and rural development, natural resource management in the country. FAOโs technical assistance, provided mainly through projects, includes institution building, development of knowledge and competencies, and exchange of experience among FAO member countries.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative, programmatic guidance and direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative, technical guidance of LTO, Food Safety and Consumer Protection Officer, REU, and in close coordination with other FEAZE staff/experts, the expert will perform the below tasks within the TCP/AZE/4003- โBuilding capacities on food consumption data for better nutrition and safer foodโ project.ย
Technical Focusย
The National Expert on Food Safety and Nutrition will focus on assessing national capacities in food safety, nutrition, and food consumption data (FCD) collection by gathering data, conducting stakeholder mapping, to advance the national FCD roadmap. Additionally, the expert will prepare technical training materials, contribute to the pilot survey implementation, and support the technical reporting and project closure.
Tasks and responsibilities
โข ย ย Together with the project team, agree on an outline of assessment of capacities in the country necessary to support the work on food safety, nutrition, food consumption data (FCD) collection;
โข ย ย Collect the data and information in line with the agreed outline;ย
โข ย ย Conduct a food safety and nutrition stakeholder mapping in Azerbaijan for the FCD work, present it to the project technical team;ย
โข ย ย Support the coordination of the working group/scientific committee chaired by Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute to provide advice on the national roadmap development and implementation on FCD, support the organization of their regular meetings and ensure continuous coordination with the members;ย
โข ย ย Support the technical preparation of the trainings (online and in-person in Baku) to Azerbaijani experts on topics to be agreed (including nutrition, food safety, One Health, food consumption data), prepare presentation and training materials when requested;ย
โข ย ย Technically contribute to the development of the pilot survey; undertake a mission to the pilot survey region in Azerbaijan, coordinate the survey piloting;ย
โข ย ย Contribute to the project technical progress reports, support the technical closure of the project.ย
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
โข ย ย Advanced University degree in agronomy or seed technology
โข ย ย At least 5 years of experience in crop management, seed production and seed quality control and certification
โข ย ย Working knowledge of English
โข ย ย National of Azerbaijan or resident of the country with valid work permit
