UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. UN Women in Georgia supports state and non-state partners towards the achievement of substantive gender equality in Georgia. In line with international and national commitments, UN Women works on the levels of policies and legislation, institutions and grassroots, in order to achieve transformative results for increased gender equality and greater protection of the rights of women and girls.ย
UN Women Georgia puts special emphasis on the work towards Ending Violence Against Women, promotion and support to Women, Peace, and Security agenda in Georgia, Economic Empowerment of Women and last but not least, Mainstreaming of Gender into National Planning and Budgeting Processes. Along with these key priority areas that constitute UN Women mandate, UN Women interventions in Georgia are anchored in the UN Country Teamโs Partnership for Sustainable Development Framework with the government of Georgia.ย
In order to enhance the understanding of various stakeholders (state agencies, private sector entities and non-governmental organizations) on how they can promote gender diversity in their respective industries, UN Women would like to create a pool of National Consultants/Trainers who will be responsible for developing modules, or using already existing modules developed by UN Women and conducting trainings across Georgia on gender equality and womenโs empowerment topics. The topics under the broad heading of Gender Equality and Womenโs Empowerment for the purposes of this ToR include but are not limited to: key concepts to unfold the underlying causes for gender inequality and gender-based discrimination, national and international legal and policy frameworks upholding womenโs rights, key elements for strengthening womenโs leadership and agency, different forms of violence against women and best ways for tackling these (changes in the norms and attitudes, prevention and protection mechanisms, etc.), key elements of womenโs economic empowerment, etc. The exact training topics / themes will be discussed and agreed with relevant UN Women staff well in advance with the selected consultants/trainers along with the level of training (introductory or advanced) depending on the target audience.ย
The consultants/trainers will work under overall supervision of UN Women Country Representative and Deputy Country Representative and day to day management and oversight of UN Women Programme Specialists and Analysts and Project Analysts as relevant , and will be supported by Project Assistant, who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.
The consultant should provide reports to UN Women, describing the completed work in a reporting format provided by UN Women. The reports should be submitted by 20th of each monthย worked.
Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work
The national consultant will be responsible:
To learn / take up existing UN Women training modules on Gender Equality and Womenโs Empowerment issues; To design new or adapt existing training modules / sessions for different target groups / purposes in close consultation with UN Women staff; To conduct a series of trainings on gender equality and womenโs empowerment for the training participants coming from different stakeholder groups (in Tbilisi as well as different other urban and rural locations of the country as well as on-line as requested);ย To conduct awareness raising activities on gender equality (incl. use of standardized tools such as In Her Shoes role play) for various target groups (in Tbilisi as well as regions of Georgia); To conduct ToTs for different stakeholders on gender equality (inc. ToT for In Her Shoes facilitators) To develop a detailed work plan for the assignment/s; To produce a training needs assessment questionnaire and conduct an online or face-to-face needs assessment of the training participants (as needed);ย To develop a detailed agenda and modules, presentations and relevant training materials; To carry out post-training assessment questionnaire with the training participants โ in line with UN Women Georgia Country Officeโs relevant templates; To develop and conduct analysis of pre and post-training assessments; To draft and submit the final training report outlining the training process, pre-and post-training assessments and recommendations for follow up actions, including on further capacity development needs of the participantsย

This is a home-based consultancy.
As a part of this assignment, there might be need to travel to regions of Georgia (up to 15 trips during the contract period).
