Background:

United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) strive to promote gender equality and womenโ€™s human rights, strengthen the implementation of gender-sensitive policy and legislation, and eliminate all forms of violence against women. UN Women is strategically positioned at both the national and provincial levels in moving towards the realization of gender equality and womenโ€™s empowerment. UN Women provides support to innovative initiatives that promote womenโ€™s human rights, with a special focus on their economic security, governance/ political participation, freedom from violence, as well as access to justice.ย 

Effective womenโ€™s movements during the current war in Sudan require capacity-building for womenโ€™s organizations engaged actions geared towards peacebuilding and humanitarian responses. UN Women is committed to capacity building for womenโ€™s organizations and initiatives using different platforms, such as meetings, conferences, and other relevant events, in addition to training and technical assistance. Womenโ€™s Led Organizations requested UN Women to build their capacity on 1) UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security; 2) mediations and negotiation skills and 3) effective coordination. Women Led Organizations mentioned that they have not received sufficient training and by conducting these trainings they would contribute effectively to humanitarian responses and peace building efforts.

Based on the above, UN Women will conduct three back-to-back trainings as follows:

Three days training workshop on UNSCR 1325 on women, peace and security, Two days training workshop on effective coordination among Women Led Organizations, and Three days training workshop on mediation and negotiation.

UN Womenย  ย will recruit a rapporteur to support the documentation of the three workshops as per the below responsibilities.

Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work

Overall Objective

To accurately document the three workshops' data, discussions, and key points into a detailed final report for each workshop separately.

Specific Objectives:ย 

Document the participantsโ€™ list for each training workshop. Enter all of the data on flip charts that the participants and facilitator reported in each workshop. During the days of each workshop to accurately document discussions, key points, decisions and action plans during the training. Ensure all data is specific and detailed avoiding generalizations in writing the reports. Following the sessions, the rapporteur is responsible for gathering all flip charts. The rapporteur assists with many duties, including gathering completed attendance/registration forms. Collect evaluation forms and report the results in the report of each workshop. A participantsโ€™ profile sheet will be created by the rapporteur including name, organization, and areas of expertise of each participant.ย  Organize and file all collected data daily into a dedicated folder in the computer. Translate all reports and data from Arabic into English accurately. Prepare the draft report of the three-day workshop report. Draft the content of the report for the workshops for UN Women review and approval. The length of the report should not exceed 15 pages for each workshop report (this excludes annexes and attachments)

Functional Competencies:

Required Qualifications:

Education:

A M.Sc.'s degree in English, Gender Studies, Social Science, Politics, Development, or relevant Field is desirable. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in recording the proceedings and discussions at workshops with either UN agencies, Government bodies or NGOs. Experience working on or knowledge of gender equality and violence against women issues is an asset. Cultural sensitivity and experience documenting workshops of culturally diverse and international groups.ย groups. Previous working experience with UN and/or international organization desirable

Languages:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable .
