Partners In Health (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions. In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health centre and to referral hospitals.

Position Overview

Partners in Health Sierra Leone (PIH-SL) seeks a dynamic, professional Multimedia Specialist who will be responsible for creating, processing and editing high-quality photo and video content, particularly for external storytelling; patient-centric multimedia content; social media platforms and PIH websites; with a special focused on the flagship project, the Maternal Center of Excellence (MCOE) and the Quality Essential Health Services and Systems Support Project (QEHSSSP).. The Multimedia Specialist will work closely with clinical leads and the coordination site multimedia team to develop materials for internal and external audiences.

As video and other multimedia storytelling has become the one of the most effective ways of communicating the organizationโ€™s brand and messaging on online platforms, this role is a critical member of the PIH Sierra Leone marketing and communications team. The Multimedia Specialist will manage multiple projects at a time, ranging from high-quality, complex video projects to fast turn-around, social media videos, and create a regular flow of still photography.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Storytelling and External Communications

  • Responsible for editing a full range of video projects, across platforms
  • Create a regular flow of still photography showcasing PIH-SLโ€™s work and impact
  • Operate audio-visual equipment to develop multimedia content including photo and video for various platforms
  • Develop photo and video materials that inspire and engage everyone, from patients and staff to high impactful donors and future supporters
  • Produce multimedia content about PIH-SL programs, patients, and staff showcasing impact
  • Receive briefs, collaborate on video storylines, shot lists, scripts, and treatments
  • Work closely with the communications team members at PIH-SL as well as PIHโ€™s site coordination team in the US, to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables
  • Ensure that proper consent has been requested, confirmed, and recorded according to PIH policies.
  • Record detailed caption information for all materials created. Embed photo captions directly through Photo Mechanic or equivalent software
  • Manage and oversee all technical aspects of video archival and editing
  • Closely collaborate with clinical teams to create patient-centered multimedia materials that support health awareness campaigns
  • Create multimedia content that spotlights Kono District and the MCOE as an attractive place to live and work including support on the creation of jingles and radio shows
  • Support the realization of the engagement strategy for PIHโ€™s flagship project โ€“ the Maternal Center of Excellence.

    Internal Communications

    -Support the production of internal communication materials

    -Maintain and improve systems for multimedia production workflow in OneDrive, Adobe Creative Suite and libraries, Canto, Asana, SharePoint

    Education and Work Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Film or a related field.
    • A portfolio is required, must demonstrate a strong understanding of photography and videography. Applications without attached portfolio samples will not be considered further. Please attach or link your portfolio to your CV.
    • At least four years of professional storytelling and videography experience in a similar role.
    • Experience with advanced multimedia storytelling techniques on multiple platforms
    • Pre-visualize and/or storyboard shot ideas based on scripts or project outlines
    • Knowledge of social media and how to engage audiences on digital platforms in the public space
    • Competency in videography principles, from scripting through post-production, and proficiency with branding guidelines using Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, Etc.) or similar software in a Mac environment
    • Competency in color correction and sound design
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel, as needed, with the potential of occasional weekend work
    • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexities while working under tight deadlines
    • Ability to work with clients directly in edit sessions to assess needs and meet project requirements
    • Properly maintain a metadata-rich digital archive

    • The ability to give and receive constructive feedback as a part of the creative process
    • A high-level of proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom
    • Proficiency with Microsoft programs, including Word and PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of social media and how to engage audiences on digital platforms
    • Understanding of and ability to clearly communicate topics related to global health and social justice.
