Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board. At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to strategically and meaningfully integrate volunteerism into the implementation and delivery of their mandates. As part of this process, UNV works with UN entities to identify opportunities where volunteers add specific and unique value to development programmes and peacekeeping missions.
ContextThis OV assignment is part of the UNV Pakistan Country Officeโs efforts to promote equitable access to information and opportunities while further streamlining, optimizing, and updating its volunteer onboarding process โ specifically the various pre-assignment (pre-departure) tasks for volunteers undergoing onboarding. By translating and proofreading materials from English to the specified local languages, the volunteers will help bridge language barriers and enhance inclusive access to information, contributing to SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, by improving communication and data dissemination.
