5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances childrenโ€™s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And itโ€™s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support childrenโ€™s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for โ€“ and respond to โ€“ crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 80 countries.

The opportunity

Plan International Nigeria, as part of its commitment to improving the lives of people in the country, especially in the communities we serve and ensuring that issues limiting the opportunity for people to live a life devoid of disaster will implement the Alliance for Resilience to Climate-related Hazards (ARCH) project in Adamawa and Yobe States. The project designed as a four-year intervention, up scalable to 12 years, is expected to have a spiral effect in other parts of the country beyond the project implementation states. While the project will apply the Climate Resilience Measurement for Communities (CRMC) to address flood incidence in the project states, it will also focus on engagement with relevant federal government agencies on flooding and other climate-related matters. Project actions at the states will serve as models for purposeful interventions that could be expanded to the national level. The project will focus on making communities more resilient to floods by supporting systems strengthening and providing relevant technical reinforcement to emergency management structures that need to be strengthened at the community level linked to LGA and the state levels up to the national level, ensuring coordination and purposeful collaboration among the agencies.

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Officer will implement the projectโ€™s Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) initiatives by providing timely, accurate information on project implementation and ensure that monitoring and evaluation are in line with specific project and donor requirements, and in line with Plan Internationalโ€™s MERL standards. The roleโ€™s support is to achieve accountability, transparency and programme quality in project locations. The post holder is to ensure that projectโ€™s activities are in line with the Logical Framework and relevant guidelines.
