Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the Head of Humanitarian Assistance and Operations, and in coordination with the Migration Health Department at the Regional Level and Headquarters (HQs), the Programme Coordinator (Emergency Health) will be responsible for the overall supervision, management, coordination and strategic guidance of IOMโs Emergency Health Programming in Coxโs Bazar, Bangladesh.ย
The successful candidate will provide programmatic management, coordination, strategic guidance and technical oversight to IOMโs emergency health operations; ensure coordination with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, World Health Organization (WHO) and health sector partners; liaise and collaborate with other IOM sectors, oversee and supervise IOMโs emergency health teams and guide project and programme development through emergency and transition phases.ย
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
University degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health or related field with a masterโs degree in public health or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or, University degree in the above fields with at least nine years of relevant professional experience.ย An additional qualification in clinical medicine, tropical medicine, maternal and child health or public health an advantage.Experience
Experience of which at least five years are at an international level, preferably involving migration health issues;ย Experience in managing significant and complex emergency health programmes;ย Demonstrated experience in emergency response and coordination, design and delivery of humanitarian assistance in complex environments;ย Sound experience working with international organizations, regional organizations, ministries of health and other governmental entities, the private sector and civil society;ย and, Proven experience in communicating scientifically to specialized audiences.Skills
Superior reporting and writing skills; Proven capacity and vision to develop and implement programmes in the area of migration and health; and, Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation.Languages
IOMโs official languages are English, French, and Spanish.ย
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish), Bangla and/or any other language spoken by Rohingyas Refugees (Rakhine State) is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
