Scope and Context ย
IOM in South Sudan has a broad range of programming centered around three broad areas: Humanitarian Coordination and Support; Humanitarian response and Resilience; and Peacebuilding, Transition, and Development. Humanitarian Coordination and support include leading/co-leading the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI) Clusters, Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and management of WASH and Shelter and NFI Core-pipelines, Humanitarian Hubs and common transport services. Humanitarian response and Resilience include CCCM, WASH, Shelter & NFI, Health, Protection, Gender equality and inclusion, Mental health and Psychosocial support and the Management of a Rapid Response Fund. Under Peacebuilding, Transition and Development, IOM South Sudan implements programming on Housing, Land and Property Page issues, Transition and Recovery, Transhumance conflict prevention, Community-based violence reduction, Community development and Migration Management.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, technical guidance of the Health Coordinator in Juba and direct supervision of Head of Sub-Office for Renk, the incumbent is accountable for undertaking clinical activities in relation to IOMโs emergency health activities.ย
Be available for rapid deployment to field locations in South Sudan as part of a mobile health team at short notice.ย Conduct patient consultations for early treatment of some medical conditions under the primary health care services.ย Conduct the medical evaluation of mothers during routine Antenatal care and post-natal care visitsย Conduct skilled delivery of mothers at IOM facilities as per universal standard practicesย Facilitate the early identification of at-risk mothers and timely referral to CEMONC facilitiesย Conduct newborn resuscitation of newly delivered infants with asyphyxiaย Support the capacity buildingย of community trained midwives deployed to support the Reproductive healthcare services at IOM facilities.ย Facilitate the referral of patients with moderate to severe medical conditions and/or diagnosis in need of secondary health care facilities in coordination with the IOM Health Officer and Health Operations Coordinator.ย Maintain a record of all consultations along with IOM Health Officer and ensure proper collection of data for weekly Integrated Disease Surveillance Response (IDSR) and morbidity reports using sex and age disaggregated data (e.g. 0-5 years, 06-17 years, 18-59 years and over 60 years of age). All reports should be sent to the IOM Health Officer for weekly review.ย Assist in pre-natal and post-natal care as well as routine and mass vaccination campaigns and recording data disaggregated by age and sex of all individuals screened.ย Conduct community-based health education and awareness sessions per week on relevant topics such as but not limited to: prevention of communicable diseases including maternal and child health care, gastrointestinal & respiratory diseases, vaccine preventable childhood diseases, malaria, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections etc; or any topics assigned by the IOM Health Officer and Health Operations Coordinator;ย Conduct weekly physical inventory of medicines and medical supplies and reporting any drug rupture or low supply of medicines to supervisor.ย Monitor proper medical waste management at the clinic site.ย Ensure that all medical information is kept confidential.ย Establish and maintain good working relationships with the IDP communities and be a team player with other health professionals as well as other IOM teams working in the sites; andย Perform other duties as may be assigned.ย Education Diploma/ Registered Midwife from an accredited School.
