The Opportunity
The position holder will be responsible to support the implementation and realization of the PIEโs strategy by developing and leading the PIE Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) humanitarian response strategy.
This would be demonstrated in undertaking responsibilities which includes strategically providing MERL technical support on humanitarian response researches/studies and evaluations terms of references and manage outsourced consultancy works, conducting quarterly monitoring field visits, review the quality and condensed quarterly and annual reports of the humanitarian response projects.
The Individual
- Education at BA/BSC/ Masterโs Degree level or equivalent in Social science, Development studies, Economics, Statistics and Management
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience working on gender transformative monitoring, evaluation, research and learning.
- programs/ projects or demonstrated equivalent combination.
- Practical knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies, including log frames, result chains, theories of change, and assessment/evaluations.
- Experience in staff/team management, coaching, mentoring, capacity building, and performance review and appraisal.
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning processes
- Depth and breadth of knowledge of Planโs global and national strategies and policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively and authoritatively on area of expertise.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships across a network.
Languages required:
- Fluency in English language is essential
- In addition to Amharic other local Knowledge of Local Languages (Affan Oromo) is Mandatory

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan Internationalโs Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan Internationalโs safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan Internationalโs global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan Internationalโs global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted
