The Position:
The Logistics Associate, based in Port Sudan, reports directly to the Supply Chain Analyst, under the overall oversight of the International Operations Manager and the guidance of Supply Chain Management Specialist. The Logistics Associate works in close collaboration with both the Programme and Operations teams, supporting the Country Office, as well as UNFPA Field Offices across Sudan including Chad & South Sudan Corridors.

Job Purpose:
ย In the context of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the Logistics Associate plays a critical role in ensuring timely, efficient, and accountable logistics support to the delivery of lifesaving supplies and services across the country. Working under challenging and dynamic conditions, the Logistics Associate supports planning, coordinating, and implementing logistics operations including warehousing, transport, distribution, and inventory management, in line with UNFPAโs emergency response strategy and humanitarian supply chain standards.
You would be responsible for:
Logistics Coordination & Operations
Support the implementation of logistics strategies to ensure effective delivery of reproductive health (RH) kits, dignity kits, and other emergency supplies. Organize and coordinate inland transportation of goods to UNFPA-supported health facilities, partners, and field offices. Liaise with customs, port authorities, UN agencies, and logistics clusters to facilitate the smooth clearance and delivery of goods. Track and follow up on shipments from point of origin to final destination, ensuring minimal delays and losses.Warehousing & Inventory Management
Supervise receipt, storage, and dispatch of humanitarian commodities in alignment with UNFPAโs inventory management procedures. Ensure stock records (physical and digital) are up to date and reconciled regularly. Conduct physical stock counts, maintain warehouse safety standards, and monitor expiry dates of time-sensitive items. Support implementation of Last Mile Assurance (LMA) and downstream monitoring.Reporting and Documentation
Maintain accurate records of logistics transactions including goods received notes, waybills, packing lists, and transport documentation. Prepare logistics reports on inventory status, stock movement, delivery performance, and any losses or incidents. Contribute to donor and internal reporting by providing data on supply chain activities and humanitarian deliveries.Collaboration and Coordination
Participate in inter-agency logistics coordination (e.g. Logistics Cluster), representing UNFPA supply chain interests. Support logistics planning in coordination with programme teams and implementing partners (IPs). Provide logistical input into procurement plans and distribution plans to ensure alignment with field realities.Emergency Preparedness & Risk Mitigation
Support contingency stock pre-positioning and rapid response mechanisms for new displacements or crises. Identify logistics bottlenecks and propose mitigation measures to ensure continuity of supply during access restrictions or infrastructure disruptions. Ensure all logistics activities comply with UNFPA and UN security, safety, and accountability standards.Carry out any other duties as may be requested by the supervisor.ย
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:ย
Completion of secondary education is required. A first-level university degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is desirable.ย Certification in humanitarian logistics is an advantageKnowledgeย and Experience:ย
At least 7 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations in a humanitarian or development setting. Experience in emergency response and field-level distribution is highly desirable.ย Managing medical supplies in emergency settings is required Excellent communication skills and ability to work in stressful environments, strong leadership skills also highly desired. Good knowledge of humanitarian response. Experience and knowledge with UN systems, especially UNFPA is an advantage. Proven knowledge of humanitarian logistics in complex emergencies. Familiarity with UN/UNFPA logistics procedures, including ERP tools (e.g. Quantum & Quantum+ including Power BI). Excellent coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure in conflict-affected environments. Strong communication and reporting skills. High sense of responsibility, integrity, and teamwork.Work Conditions:
The position may involve frequent travel to insecure areas with limited infrastructure.Long working hours and flexibility are expected due to the fluid nature of humanitarian operations.
