The consultant will edit a variety of documents to help ensure high-quality English language consistency and accuracy across all ACAPS products. The selected candidate will ultimately contribute to ensuring ACAPS is perceived as a leading voice on humanitarian analysis worldwide.
Role and responsibilities

Support the postproduction of ACAPS resources. Contribute to ensuring high-quality publications and language consistency across the organisationSpecific responsibilities:ย
Postproduction
Perform English language editing and proofreading of analytical products and resources. Liaise with other editors to consolidate views and harmonize the approach. Liaise with the analysis team/authors to resolve any inconsistency or ambiguity.ย Be available to discuss and make any corrections needed. Be responsible for the last review before publication.Language consistencyย
Ensure high-quality English language consistency and accuracy for all ACAPS productsย in terms of language, writing style, source formatting, and country-specific preferences. Ensure implementation of the ACAPS Style Guide and suggest changes for improvement.ยPerform other duties as appropriate
Be available to review any other document produced by ACAPS. Be available outside office working hours for urgent publications (upon request).Critical interfaces:
Liaise regularly with the other Language Editor, who will allocate the requests for language editing and provide initial training and regular guidance on the Style Guide. Closely coordinate and collaborate with content editors and reviewers. Maintain regular contact with the rest of the team members involved in the postproduction phase.Competencies
Specific skills, knowledge and experienceย
At leastย fiveย years of proven work experience in writing, editing, reporting, and/or proofreading in the English language, preferably within the humanitarian sector. Experience working with specific style guides. Postgraduate qualification in language studies, social science, international development, communications, or any other relevant subject. English mother tongue level; excellent English language writing skills. Expertise in standard ICT office support tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, and layout. Understanding of the humanitarian sector and emergency response context, including traditional and non-traditional actors, is a plus.ยGeneric competencies
