We are seeking a Korean PR & Communications Specialist for 6-month-contract position (Replacement for maternity leave) to work within the Government & Public Relations Unit at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station : Seoul, Korea)

Job Description

The Korean PR & Communications Specialist will conduct and promote Korean government and public relations, and donor/external relations activities within Korea. S/he will also proactively plan and implement advocacy and fundraising activities and events and manage general finances and administration of the Unit to help ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and in compliance with IVI policy. S/he will also administer and manage new advocacy and marketing projects.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Provide administrative support for government relations
Assist the Team in information gathering and compiling, application and post-submission processes of ROK grant proposals, and reporting. Assist the Team in communications with Korean government agencies and public-sector organizations, and with conducting related activities and events. Interpret meetings and translate documents to help conduct events and activities.

2. Conduct media and public relations activities within Korea
Plan and conduct creative PR and advocacy activities (interviews/meetings with reporters, etc). Draft/translate press releases, PR and advertising copy, and develop stories about IVI. Develop creative comms tools and manage content and messaging (website, blog, social media, and multimedia) in Korean and English including those for the DG. Monitor media reports and gather daily news clippings.
3. Support fundraising, external & donor relations, and marketing within Korea
Manage budgets of related projects, create donor reports as a project administrator Handle comms in the cooperation with donors, GW Ambassadors and partners jointly with KSC for IVI and IVIโ€™s units (e.g. KSC-funded IVI advocacy project, donor visit programs). Seek opportunities, help develop and implement fundraising/marketing/branding/advocacy strategy for IVI across diverse comms. channels Proactively explore and organize online/offline fundraising campaigns and events to discover and develop new donors and help expand IVIโ€™s Korean donor base (e.g. Giving Amb. Lee Sang Hee) Design and produce IVI merchandise items to help increase public visibility

4. Implement advocacy & marketing projects including the new IVI-SK bioscience Park MahnHoon Award
Serve as a member of Award Secretariat to support the Award Selection Committee and to provide administrative support throughout the award process Handle logistics in inviting preeminent scientists/leaders as awardees of the Award and organize events including the Award Ceremony. Manage the budget and prepare project reports by serving as project administrator/manager to ensure efficient operation of the award
5. Support administration of the Government and PR Unit
Manage the annual budget for government relations & PR and process transactions. Provide support in the administration and operation of the unit.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

1. Education Requirements
Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent (PR and communications, journalism, marketing or business, public health, education, or administration) MA is preferred
2. Related Field Work Experience
5+ years in PR & communications, and/or media relations in Korea
(non-profit marketing or fundraising a significant plus; experience in social media marketing a significant plus)
3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge
Excellent computer skills (MS Office) and high Korean and English language proficiency (excellent skills in writing, translation and interpretation) General understanding of marketing, and/or donor development processes and donor relations Photography skills, photoshop and other design software knowledge is a plus
4. Language Proficiency
Fluency in English and Korean; strong translation/interpretation skills
