Department Context

The WBG Corporate Solutions Department (ITSCO) is focused on the digital transformation of essential corporate services to ensure WBG operations are seamless, resilient, and futureโ€‘ready. Uniting digitalization roadmaps, experience design, process optimization, application delivery, systems management, and technology modernization across some 170 products and services, the department links business ambition with operational excellenceโ€”from intuitive employee experiences and precision payroll to data-driven decision making, intelligent automation, and AI enablement. Operating from Washington, Chennai, Sofia, and Singapore in a global delivery model, the team seeks to combine disciplined strategic planning with focused roadmaps, agile product delivery, designโ€‘forward innovation, digital engineering, automation, and AI to produce solutions that are engaging, impactful, and efficient. Unit Context

The Corporate Digital Backbone (ITSCD) unit serves as both the steward and transformation catalyst for the World Bank Groupโ€™s broad corporate technology portfolio of approximately 170 applications. This diverse landscapeโ€”spanning on-premises enterprise class ERP systems, cloud-based SaaS offerings, specialized vendor tools, and custom solutions built on multiple stacksโ€”forms the digital backbone of the institutionโ€™s corporate functions. The unit guides the modernization, consolidation, and integration of these systems to create a unified, secure, and future ready application ecosystem. The unit provides application frameworks and digital capabilities for the product teams across the department to leverage accelerated delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

โ€ข Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for product enhancement.

โ€ข Create executive-level reports and presentations with actionable insights.

โ€ข Establish metrics and success criteria for product features and initiatives and monitor for adoption, usage, and business impact.

โ€ข Design and optimize data models by implementing star and snowflake schemas, creating relationships and hierarchies, and applying performance optimization techniques including incremental refresh and query folding strategies.

โ€ข Transform and load data using Power Query (M language) to perform complex ETL processes, manage calculated tables, and ensure efficient data extraction for large datasets.

โ€ข Integrate diverse data sources including SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, SharePoint, Excel, REST APIs, and cloud platforms using DirectQuery, Import, and Composite model strategies tailored to business needs.

โ€ข Manage data workflows by creating Power BI Service dataflows, implementing real-time data streams, configuring automated refresh schedules, and developing parameterized queries with dynamic connections.

โ€ข Business domain knowledge of corporate functions, including HR and Budget, is a plus.

โ€ข Embrace agile methodologiesย throughout the product lifecycle by managingย backlog and priorities across multiple projects, conductingย iterative system reviews and feedback with the client, and testingย new product releases and updates to ensure that they work as expected.ย 

โ€ข Manage ongoing relationship with business partners, clients, and other stakeholders.

โ€ข Assist users to understand how to use the systems and software, and provide training and documentation as needed.

Selection Criteria

โ€ข Masterโ€™s degree in computer science, Information Systems or a related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7+ years relevant experience.

โ€ข Ability to analyze large amounts of data and information and draw meaningful insights from that data (identify patterns and trends and use that information to make recommendations for improvements).

โ€ข Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including dashboard creation, DAX, and data modeling

โ€ข Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases

โ€ข Expertise in data analysis, statistical methods, and predictive analytics

โ€ข Experience in gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating them into functional specifications based on Agile methodology.

โ€ข Excellent organizational and time management skills and a keen sense of priorities.

โ€ข Strong written and verbal communication skills.
