MAS Europe Upstream and Advisory focuses on creating opportunities for private sector investments in the manufacturing, agribusiness and services (including health, education, tourism, retail and property) sectors in 15 countries in Central and Eastern Europe. MAS sectors account for as much as 80% of overall economic activity in these countries and play a critical role in creating jobs, addressing peopleโ€™s core needs, providing goods and services to consumers and stimulating economic growth.

IFC is seeking to recruit an Investment Analyst to support Upstream (pre-investment) and Advisory work in the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) sectors in the Europe region.
The Investment Analyst will work with IFCโ€™s investment and operations officers who are responsible for identifying, designing, structuring and subsequently implementing innovative and highly developmental Upstream and Advisory engagements with a clear line of sight to sustainable and impactful IFC investments with companies across MAS sectors in Europe.

Duties and Accountabilities :
โ€ข Support business development and origination by maintaining and upgrading various tools used for strategic business development, including correctly identifying country and sector development gaps and the private sector players with whom IFC could partner in order to close those gaps.
โ€ข Contribute to the conceptualization and development of high-quality Upstream and Advisory projects through research, ideation, and analytical and operational activities.
โ€ข Assist the team in designing and implementing innovative engagement models with public and private sector players to maximize private capital mobilization, equity investments and MSMEs development. Support collaboration with teams across the World Bank Group to leverage the relevant tools and resources available across the institution.
โ€ข Support the Upstream & Advisory team with overall project management and supervision of the projectsโ€™ deliverables, aiming to ensure timely and high-quality delivery on the Upstream programโ€™s objectives and KPIs.
โ€ข Support the management team in delivering corporate tasks and strategic initiatives.
โ€ข Conduct thorough research and analysis of relevant MAS sectors, markets, and target companies, including sector mappings, comparative analyses, and assessments of the target companies' business models and creditworthiness.
โ€ข Conduct company financial and credit assessments, analyze historical financial statements, financial projections, and reports from analysts and rating agencies, build financial models, and run sensitivity analyses.
โ€ข Conduct credit risk rating assessments and integrity risk assessments in IFCโ€™s systems, with support from senior colleagues.
โ€ข Identify data collection needs and collect data to support the assessments of the financial, operational and developmental impact of IFC projects.
โ€ข Prepare documentation for IFCโ€™s internal processes and reporting, as well as for IFCโ€™s project management and supervision systems.
โ€ข Contribute to corporate initiatives.

Selection Criteria

โ€ข A Bachelor's or Masterโ€™s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or another relevant field.
โ€ข 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a financial or a business consultancy institution, with a focus on investment projects and/or corporate strategies.
โ€ข Ability to conduct company financial statement analysis. Proven aptitude in the following areas: accounting, finance, financial modeling, DCF, scenario analysis, and comparative company analysis.
โ€ข Ability to analyze, distill, and summarize large volumes of financial and market information, and synthesize insights, particularly in areas such as debt pricing benchmarks and equity trading comparables.
โ€ข Strong market and industry research and analytical skills โ€“ both quantitative and qualitative, with demonstrated ability to distill, integrate, and translate complex issues and information from diverse sources and perspectives into clear, crisp and strategically relevant insights. Demonstrated ability to leverage and build databases.
โ€ข Basic understanding of how specific investments in different MAS industries impact economic, market, and social development.
โ€ข Excellent written communication skills, including proven experience in preparing presentations and MS Word documents.
โ€ข Ability to consider problems from new perspectives and to expand on the thinking/solutions proposed by others; independent engagement in analysis and tasks requiring the interpretation of complex or imperfect sets of information.
โ€ข Ability to work and integrate into changing project teams, get up to speed with new topics quickly and carry out supporting analysis with minimal supervision.
โ€ข Superior interpersonal skills, and ability to prioritize as well as multi-task. Proven ability to actively listen and effectively identify client and stakeholder needs.
