Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.

ContextThis initiative aims to ensure accessibility for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, enabling them to engage fully with the content. The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program supports global peace and development through volunteerism, aiming to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in all its projects. This assignment focuses on making an inclusion video accessible to International Sign (IS) users. We are specifically looking for candidates who are proficient in International Sign Language (IS) for this task.

Task DescriptionThe selected online volunteer will provide an accurate and engaging IS interpretation for a 3.5-minute inclusion video, covering key topics and promoting accessibility for all. This initiative aims to ensure accessibility for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, enabling them to engage fully with the content. The volunteer will be responsible for the following: Interpretation of Spoken Content: Translate the spoken content into International Sign Language (IS) in a way that maintains the original meaning and context. Recording Requirements: Record the interpretation against a green background (chroma key), wearing black clothing that contrasts with the background for clear visibility and easy editing. Attention to Timing and Clarity: Ensure the interpretation aligns with the video’s pacing, maintaining a clear and easily understandable delivery.
