Result of Service- First, second and final drafts of psychosocial guidance note for Iraq completed incorporating feedback from STRIVE Juvenile team and MoJ. - First and second draft of training programme for Iraqi professionals on the Guidance note on psychosocial assessment processes for sentenced children deprived of their liberty including TOT manual completed incorporating feedback from the STRIVE Juvenile team. - A round table meeting with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Iraq prepared for, delivered and followed up on to endorse and validate the psychosocial guidance note; including drafting corresponding activity report. - Four training workshops for Iraqi professionals on the Guidance note on psychosocial assessment processes for sentenced children deprived of their liberty prepared, delivered and followed up on; including drafting corresponding activity reports. - Training Programme on Psychosocial Child Assessment for social workers and psychologists in Indonesia reviewed and revised to ensure gender sensitivity. - Two Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for Iraqi professionals on the Guidance note on psychosocial assessment processes for sentenced children deprived of their liberty prepared for, delivered and followed up on; including drafting corresponding activity report. - ToT session on Psychosocial Child Assessment prepared, delivered and facilitated in Jakarta including: reviewing the training content, focusing on child-centered psychosocial assessments; adjusting training materials, including manuals, presentations, and practical exercises tailored to the needs of the participants; facilitating the delivery of the ToT session, ensuring active participation and capacity-building among trainers; developing and submitting a detailed activity report summarizing the ToT, including key topics covered, participant feedback, lessons learned, and recommendations for future sessions Prepare; and providing an analysis of the effectiveness of the training and suggestions for improvement. - Two preparatory sessions with trained trainers from MoSA, Indonesia organized and participated in, including: supporting trainers from the Ministry of Social Affairs by providing insights, troubleshooting challenges, and enhancing their psychosocial assessment skills; documenting and submitting activity reports after each mentorship session, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations for further development. Work LocationHome-based with travel to Iraq and Indonesia Expected duration27/05-11/12/2025 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Consultant will provide his/her knowledge and expertise to the conceptualisation and delivery of capacity-building activities and preparation of guidance related to psychosocial child assessment processes and psychosocial support implemented under UNODCโ€™s End Violence against Children portfolio. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Masterโ€™s degree or equivalent) in social work, psychology, or related mental health field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. PhD degree or equivalent is desirable. Minimum of 5 years of MHPSS related work experience - including at least 2 years with children associated with organized criminal and armed groups, including terrorist groups is required. Knowledge on the situation of Iraq and Indonesia related to child association with organized criminal and armed groups, including terrorist groups is required; Experience in developing reports and materials regarding MHPSS is required; Work experience in the Iraq and/or Indonesia is desirable; Experience in psychosocial assessment of children in conflict affected areas is desirable; Experience with 4Ws mapping in conflict affected areas is desirable; Experience with MHPSS in Juvenile Justice including in juvenile facilities is desirable; Knowledge of legal and judicial aspects relating to violence against children and justice for children is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English with excellent drafting and communication skills is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an advantage. Additional InformationNot available.
