Job description

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the International PtX Hub (https://ptx-hub.org/) promotes renewable Power-to-X to reach climate goals and full defossilisation. The PtX Hub acts as a centre of expertise and collaboration for innovative and sustainable green hydrogen and Power-to-X value chains. The aim is to build and foster strong networks with industry, academia, administrations, and civil society in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The PtX Hub focuses on Power-to-X for sustainable aviation and shipping, on developing country-specific Power-to-X concepts, facilitating stakeholder dialogues, policy and regulatory advice and capacity sharing through trainings and a Train-the-Trainer programme.

You will join the policy team of the PtX Hub which stays up to date on policy regulations in Germany and the EU, advises our partner countries in setting up a regulatory framework for the evolving PtX-Market, upholds sustainability criteria by applying its EESG-framework and facilitates PtX-trade.

Your tasks

As part of the policy team, you will be responsible for the following tasks during the internship:

Independently research and analyse topics related to green hydrogen and PtX, such as international (primarily EU) policies and regulatory frameworks for sustainably produced synthetic e-fuels and feedstocks Proactively contritubte to the successful delivery and implementation of projects with an special focus on the intersection of carbon pricing (specifically CBAM (EU Carbon border adjustment mechanism) and PtX Actively contribute to the successful conception, organisation, and implementation of internal and external events, such as bilateral and regional country dialogues (mostly virtual) Support the team in creating presentations, flyers and knowledge products on policies for green hydrogen and PtX products with a special focus at the intersection of carbon pricing (specifically CBAM (EU Carbon border adjustment mechanism) and PtX Contribute to the training material of the PtX Hub Support team members in administrative and coordinative tasks

Your profile

Completed undergraduate degree (Bachelor) in the field of energy, environment, political science, international affairs, economics or other relevant fields Basic technical understanding and interest in the topic of synthetic fuels and feedstocks and renewable energy (green hydrogen, PtX) Interest in international (development) cooperation and policy development Working fluency in spoken and written English; knowledge of German, French and/or Spanish is an asset Excellent written communication skills, analytical thinking, and ability to work in a structured manner and ability to translate complex topics into simple language Good MS Office skills (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel, MS Teams) and good self-organisation, ability to work under pressure, flexibility and initiative Familiararity with the fundamentals of carbon pricing and the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism; familiarity with the EU legislative processes; familiarity with trade-related databases such as UN Comtrade, Trade Map or Eurostat and is an asset familiarity with GHG emission methodologies such as the GHG Protocol
