Job description

The Sector Programme Social and Environmental Transformation of Textile Supply Chains (SV SETTS) supports the commissioning Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in improving working and living conditions in production countries, promoting gender equality, and minimizing environmental impacts. The focus is on the textile sector. On behalf of BMZ, the SV operates the office of the Green Button certification scheme for sustainable textiles (Grรผner Knopf). Are you interested in sustainable supply chains and corporate due diligence processes? Do fair conditions for people and the environment matter to you? Are you interested in driving change in the textile supply chain together with our partners and us? We believe that we can achieve much more, and for that, we need reinforcement in our team that operates the Green Button Secretariat (Geschรคftsstelle Grรผner Knopf).

Your tasks

During your internship you'll have the following tasks:

You support the BMZ's advisory services on sustainable consumption, sustainability certificates, and the social and environmental transformation of textile supply chains You assist in planning and organizing events, particularly a Grรผner Knopf conference, as well as other event formats (e.g., workshops, exchange formats with other GIZ projects/external partners) You research background information and contribute to the preparation of (political) status reports and the handling of short-term inquiries from the BMZ You take on tasks for the revision of Grรผner Knopf, including research on business models of certifications, the role of certifications for investors, and incentives for companies to get certified You help build a steadily growing and diverse portfolio of licensed companies, thereby increasing the impact of Grรผner Knopf You support the office in building a robust assurance system to ensure robust audits and gain insights into advising companies on implementing Grรผner Knopf standard requirements

Your profile

You are studying in the fourth semester or higher in economics, communications, political science, humanities, or a comparable field You may have already gained initial professional experience through internships at home and abroad (e.g., in ministries, the private sector, or international organizations) You have political sensitivity and a good understanding of development policy contexts and the goals of German development cooperation Ideally, you have some knowledge in the field of sustainable textiles, corporate responsibility in the textile sector, current discussions on human rights due diligence, and/or relevant certifications You have good knowledge of common MS Office programs You have good analytical skills and enjoy working with data You have experience in event management or an interest in learning it You enjoy working in a team, have a friendly and open demeanor, and contribute proactively You are very well organized, work very carefully and independently You have working level knowledge of German and English (C1)
