ย The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย
ย In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
ย a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor. d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.
ย Background Information
IOM's Country Office in Norway was established in 2002 and has traditionally implemented three main programmes: the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme that provides assistance to migrants in Norway who wish to voluntarily return to their countries of origin; the Resettlement programme and the Norwegian Cultural Orientation (NORCO) programme, which together facilitate the resettlement and two-way integration of quota refugees to Norway. Norway is one of IOMโs 175 member states. ย
Working under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Support Assistant, and in close cooperation with the Programme Coordinator and relevant units in IOM Norway, as well as the Media and Communications teams in the IOM Denmark Country Office for Partnership & Advocacy, Regional Office in Vienna and HQ, the selected candidate will assist in producing and enhancing the Country Officeโs digital footprint through social media, video editing, content creation and graphic design. The intern will also contribute to repackaging and repurposing complex information into understandable posts targeting a non-technical audience. Assist in developing and producing audio-visual materials promoting the work of the Country Office, including video, social media, animations, posters, leaflets infographics, etc.
- Contribute to the maintenance and upgrading of the Country Office website.ย
- Build and consolidate social media presence for the Country Office on X, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
- Present information and data in a creative, innovative and compelling ways for print, electronic, web-based and animated presentations for illustrative and informative purposes.
- Monitor and report on traffic on the website and social media platforms in order to adapt editorial direction and examine audience engagement.
- Support the promotion of IOM information products through social and traditional media, ย
- Assist in writing, research, editing, sourcing, collating, and/or rewriting press releases and digital stories, related to IOMโs work in the country.
- Design and support the lay-out of reports and communication materials for printing and electronic distribution.
- Update newsletters, factsheets, data sheets, other visibility materials.
- Create infographics that creatively convey topics related to IOMโs work.
- Support and assist in planning and organising events and activities as initiated by the Country Office, complying with the mandatory protocols for high level officials, dignitaries and guests.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned. Education Information and Communication Technology, Communication, Media Studies or other relevant Social Sciences from an accredited academic institution. ย Experience Experience in designing compelling visuals for publications and social media including infographic is necessary. ย Skills Strong theoretical and practical background in digital media, design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro are advantageous), and other relevant software. Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management is necessary. Experience implementing institutional branding and design manuals across the full range of visual products. Excellent research, writing, communication and analytical skills. Solid understanding and interest in migration, development, communication and/or humanitarian issues. Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and consistently according to set deadlines ย Languages Fluency in English is required Norwegian skills are an advantage IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish. ย ย ย Required Competencies ย IOMโs competency framework can be found atย this link.
