Work LocationGebze Expected duration6 months-15 September 2025 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations General Assembly resolution 71/251 established the Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries (UNTBLDC) and adopted its Charter on 23 December 2016. The objectives of UNTBLDC are: (a) To strengthen the science, technology and innovation capacity of least developed countries, including the capacity to identify, absorb, develop, integrate and scale up the deployment of technologies and innovations, including indigenous ones, as well as the capacity to address and manage intellectual property rights issues; (b) To promote the development and implementation of national and regional science, technology and innovation strategies; (c) To strengthen partnerships among science, technology and innovationrelated public entities and with the private sector; (d) To promote cooperation among all stakeholders involved in science, technology and innovation, including researchers, research institutions and public and private sector entities, within and between least developed countries, as well as with their counterparts in other countries; (e) To promote and facilitate the identification and utilization of and access to appropriate technologies by the least developed countries, as well as their transfer to the least developed countries, while respecting intellectual property rights and fostering the national and regional capacity of the least developed countries for the effective utilization of technology in order to bring about transformative change. The Doha Programme of Action for LDCs for the decade 2021-2030, endorsed by the General Assembly in March 2022, has also reinforced the mandate of the UN Technology Bank for the LDCs by reaffirming that the UN Technology Bank will serve as \"a focal point for the Least Developed Countries to strengthen their science, technology and innovation capacity towards building sustainable productive capacities and promoting structural economic transformation\". This mandate places the UN Technology Bank at the center of the least developed countries' efforts to advance their science, technology and innovation (STI) capacities through technology transfer and local technological capability building. The intern will support the Knowledge Management strategy by establishing and operationalizing robust data and information management systems, including databases, directories, and knowledge products that underpin the Knowledge Hub and related KM services. The intern shall undertake the following tasks: โ€ข Conduct desk research to identify and compile; global, regional and national STI Research, Development and Innovation Institutions (R&Dis) and Centres of Excellence (CoEs) relevant to key sectors. โ€ข Identify and compile experts in thematic STI areas for inclusion in the Expert Roster. โ€ข Research organizations with open-access STI resources, publications, data and indicators. โ€ข Identify potential partner institutions for capacity building initiatives. โ€ข Verify and validate collected data for accuracy and completeness. โ€ข Support the creation and maintenance of directories of R&Dis and CoEs, the Expert Roster in Excel or other designated systems, and list of organizations with relevant digital libraries and expert rosters. โ€ข Assist in structuring datasets to ensure ease of updating and retrieval. โ€ข Prepare, format and upload content to the Knowledge Hub, such as summaries of TNAs, STI publications and links to resources. โ€ข Draft brief descriptions of resources and institutions for web publication. โ€ข Assist in creating and updating the Knowledge Hub wireframe and page layouts. โ€ข Draft initial outreach emails to institutions and experts to invite participation in UNTBโ€™s networks and rosters. โ€ข Maintain records of communications and responses, and track consent forms and focal point confirmations. โ€ข Support the development of progress trackers and logs for key deliverables, such as completed TNA summaries and updated directories. โ€ข Assist in preparing progress reports and presentations for management and donors. โ€ข Participate in team discussions and capacity-building sessions on KM tools and practices. โ€ข Contribute ideas to improve data workflows and information management processes. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree, equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants enrolled or who have completed their degree in a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is an advantage. Demonstrated tech-savviness, with the ability to quickly learn and use digital tools, platforms, and software relevant to the role. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
