ย The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.ย
ย In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
ย a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor. d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. e) are between 20 and 36 years of age. ย Supervision
- Senior IT Executive Learning Objectives
An IT intern's learning objectives are designed to provide hands-on experience in technical support, system maintenance, network management, software development, data management, and administrative tasks. These objectives aim to build technical proficiency, enhance problem-solving skills, and foster professional growth.
Training Components and Learning Elements- Technical Support: Learn to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues while adhering to organizational ICT policies. They gain practical experience in supporting end-user applications, installing and configuring IT equipment, and onboarding new employees by setting up accounts and devices.
System Maintenance: Monitor system reliability and security, manage backups and disaster recovery plans, and perform routine maintenance of computers and printers.
Network Management: Diagnose connectivity issues, install network equipment, run cables, label devices, and coordinate with service providers under supervision.
Software Development: Take part in requirement gathering, code reviews, application testing, automation scripting, and training staff on data visualization tools.
Data Management: Tasks include organizing databases, migrating data to cloud storage, and coordinating with teams for data preparation.
Administrative Tasks: Interns prepare reports, manage documentation files, monitor emails/tickets, maintain IT assets inventory, and order replacement equipment.
ย EducationBachelorโs degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
Experience ย Experience in networking environment (LAN/WAN) and network/desktop support. ย SkillsAbility to handle work efficiently with minimal supervision and understanding of the importance of close teamwork.
LanguagesFluency in English and Sinhalese / Tamil is required.
