Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is in the Conference Support Section (CSS) of the Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Branch (OCB), which supports countries in preventing and combating organized crime. The Intern will work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. Working under the supervision of the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer, the intern will: โข Assist in planning, developing and delivering strategic communication activities, both online and for in-person events such as conferences or expert meetings. โข Develop and edit compelling written, visual and video content for a variety of audiences for web, social media, events, and other communication channels. โข Create visual assets (graphics, infographics, short videos, reels) using graphic/digital design and editing tools. โข Support live coverage of events with photography, social media updates, short video interviews, and behind-the-scenes storytelling. Daily responsibilities may vary and be tailored on the individualโs background. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent). A field of study in Communications, Media and Journalism, Visual Design, Marketing, Public Relations, International Relations, Political Science or related fields is required. Required qualifications include: โข Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills in English. โข Experience with social media platforms, content management systems, and digital tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, or similar). โข Ability to shoot and edit basic video for social media. Success in this internship requires a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, multicultural environment, and who can work independently as well as collaboratively. They will need to manage own tasks and time effectively, bring creative ideas to the table and be proactive in suggesting new approaches. Applicants must have a keen demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
