The Internship Programme is a learning opportunity aimed at attracting young and talented candidates. The programme will provide the successful candidates with the opportunity to put into practice and implement their learned and academic knowledge in a field related to the work of WFP.This will promote better understanding of WFP Kenya mandate and programmes. Similarly, the programme will provide WFP with qualified individuals specializing in relevant fields in line with WFPโ€™s Strategic Objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

WFPโ€™s activities include food assistance for relief, school feeding, safety nets, nutrition, and food assistance for assets creation through provision of in-kind and cash-based transfers. You will be part of an efficient and dynamic team that effectively support in the implementation of WFPโ€™s country strategic plan for Kenya.

BACKGROUND

The Innovation Unit is seeking an intern to support various Innovation projects under the Innovation Consultancy Services. The applicant would support various workshops with planning, co-facilitation and reporting, support field research projects, testing solutions and the documentations of all processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Working in collaboration with Project Managers and Innovation Managers, the Innovations Unit Intern will support innovation projects as follows:

Assist in the organisation and preparation for events, meetings, innovation boot-camps and workshops (in person and virtual). Support the facilitation of Innovation Workshops. Conduct user research and community engagement regarding issues on innovations in the humanitarian sector. Assist in writing research reports including creative visualisation of the insights collected. Assist in drafting and writing documents and communication materials, including stories for social media, internal and external sites. Assist in preparation of fundraising materials such as Concept Notes, Proposals etc and associated follow up meetings and actions. Participate in relevant internal and external meetings relevant to the Innovation Unit as requested and assist with note-taking and documentation. Support any other activities related to innovation and achieving zero hunger as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Recent graduate from a Bachelors programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) in the field of Business, Communication, Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Nutrition, International Development, Public Policy or other related studies.

Language : Fluent in written and spoken English

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Ability to produce high-quality written materials and write clearly. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Online Communication. Proficiency in creating high-quality presentations and reports Some experience in facilitating workshops and or group work or strong willingness to learn Basic understanding of Innovation Methodologies such as Human-cantered Design Strong project management skills. Collaborative spirit, able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy. Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy. Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the UN World Food Programme. Experience using innovative tools and methodologies (such as Human-centered Design) in humanitarian projects preferred. Good visual sense โ€“ affinity towards graphic design or creating clean and clear visual presentations preferred.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP depending on the duty station of assignment. WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs. WFP will recognize candidatesโ€™ educational credentials from recognized institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education. The internship duration is 8 months, full-time.
